Manufacturing Project Engineer

Our client, a major pharmaceutical manufacturing organization based in north Dublin, requires a Project Engineer to join the Operations department on a contract basis for an initial 12 months.
The successful candidate will be tasked with developing effective engineering solutions within a project based operating platform.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Identify effective engineering design solutions for Engineering Department client requirements
  • Design solutions in compliance with local/corporate safety standards and legislation and in compliance with corporate engineering and regulatory standards and guidelines
  • Execute design solutions via recognised project management techniques and in compliance with the client corporate Stage Gate project management business process
  • While complying with safety and quality standards/policies/guidelines identify most cost effective engineering solution to client requirements
  • Develop and improve new and existing standards within the engineering department improving the service offered to clients/end-users
  • Manage project change control and maintain change control records and justifications
  • Co-ordinate the activities of other project stakeholders to maintain project progress in line with defined schedules.
  • Assimilate, process and present project data in the form of a monthly project report identifying project progress, cost projections and risks
  • Maintain project information within a structured filing system providing easily retrievable project data and historical records of key decisions made
  • Generate presentations on key technical/project related issues for audiences both within the engineering group and for client or project stakeholders
  • Generate and maintain project schedules to plan and track project activities over the life-cycle of the project



Manage People/Interactions with People:

  • Liaise with client (end-user) to ensure project objectives are identified and are reflected in project definition
  • Liaise with site-wide project stakeholders to ensure multi-disciplinary input to project definition where local and corporate standards and policies are achieved.
  • Liaise with upper management to ensure project realisation via resource and risk identification
  • Liaise with construction management group to ensure successful project implementation as per design intentions.



Manage Finance/Compile Cost Reports:

  • Generate project order of magnitude cost estimates at project initiation stage
  • Generate 30% and 10% level project cost estimates at appropriate stages in project life-cycle
  • Prepare financial and technical submissions for project capital funding approval
  • Manage, monitor and report on costs including future projection over project life-cycle.



Essential Skills:

  • Effectively communicates technical topics to key stakeholders, management, and team members to influence decisions
  • Applies structured problem analysis to provide timely, statistically based solutions to equipment and process issues
  • Applies innovative solutions to process needs through use of newly applied technology
  • Applies understanding of HAZOP, GMPs and regulatory requirements to process design and process qualifications
  • Incorporate understanding of corporate safety and environmental standards into execution of and development of process strategies
  • Applies project management techniques to ensure successful realisation of project execution.



Requirements:

  • An honours degree in Chemical/Mechanical/Process Engineering and relevant experience in batch, fine chemical or the pharmaceutical industry.
