This global organisation in the engineering services sector are looking to hire a Management Accountant to work within the Defence Technology sector of their business, based in Bristol.

A real business partnering role, supporting Project Managers and other senior stakeholders with all financial aspects involved in the delivery of major engineering projects, integral to the business and their clients.

A qualified accountant, you will be comfortable in managing the financial reporting, forecasting and performance analysis for long-term projects or contracts.

About your new role

Key duties will include:

  • To be responsible for the production of financial information for quarterly forecasting, budget and performance information for the contracts in their portfolio.
  • To produce meaningful and accurate financial reports to show contract performance in order to clearly explain variances from budget, previous forecasts & estimates to complete.
  • To assist the project managers in their understanding of the financial issues so they are equipped to foresee financial risks before they arise and put in place adequate mitigation.
  • To support the Project Managers during the quarterly contracts reviews with the Board.
  • To submit/produce contract invoices, in line with current procedures and compile cash forecasts in line with the company requirements.
  • To assist in the production of reports that are required by the Project Accounting function and within business streams relevant to their portfolio of contracts.
  • To be responsible for the delivery of appropriate revenue, profit, cashflow & orders reconciliation for their portfolio of contracts at month end.
  • To be able to develop current processes and procedures to improve efficiency.
  • To act as an independent within the contracts in upholding & maintaining our financial/control processes to achieve both internal and external audit compliance.

About you

  • Qualified Accountant, preferably ACCA/CIMA/ACA
  • Min 3 year's industry experience in Management Accountant or Project Accountant position
  • Industry experience within Defence, Engineering or similar is desirable
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Comfortable dealing with stakeholders of all seniority levels
  • Proficient in using MS Excel, with the ability to pick up new platforms quickly
