I am supporting a large FMCG business in their search for a Management Accountant. The company have a fantastic presence in leading supermarkets as well as independent outlets. This a fantastic opportunity to play an important role as a Management Accountant reporting to the Financial Controller.

  • Preparing the monthly management accounts pack and commentary, including preparation of reports.
  • Communication with key department heads to track actual spend to achieve cost control, while working closely with the FP&A team providing data and feedback for the forecasting process
  • Ensure all relevant costs are identified and allocated appropriately to provide a view of underlying profitability
  • Assisting in the year end audit process, including preparation and review of the financial statements
  • Ensure balance sheet reconciliations are completed for all nominal codes on a monthly basis with the relevant supporting documentation
  • Reviewing financial systems and processes in order to identify improvements in those processes for more effective Financial Control in all aspects of the business. This will include implementation of controls on the newly implemented finance system as well as manual controls in the finance team and the wider business.
  • Prepare and analyse performance across the different operations including a review of the gross margin, direct costs and any central overheads
  • Calculating and posting month end accruals, prepayments and other monthly journals
  • Prepare balance sheet and control account reconciliations
  • Maintenance of the Fixed Asset Register
  • The role will also provide holiday cover for the Sales Ledger Manager

In terms of you…

  • Qualified accountant (ACCA or equivalent)
  • Previous experience in preparing management accounts including managing large amounts of data.
  • Exposure to preparing accruals, prepayments and other adjusting entries / journals
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Collaborative team player spirit who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Has the gravitas to liaise with people of all seniority.
  • Good proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Previous experience working within retail or FMCG is desired - a passion for the industry is essential!
