My client, a well-known energy company based in Coventry, is currently seeking a Management Accountant to join their busy finance team on a 3-month interim contract. This could turn into a longer term opportunity for the right candidate.

Important Requirements - please read before applying

· You should ideally immediately available or on a maximum of 2 week's notice and be able to work via your own limited company or an umbrella company.
· You must have the right to work in the UK currently and for the duration of the contract.
· Successful candidates will undergo a DBS check upon acceptance of any offer, which must be fully completed and returned with the 'all clear' ahead of starting the role.
· You must be based relatively locally for this role - we will sadly not be able to consider candidates who wish to relocate or commute for longer than 45 minutes.
· Due to travel between various local sites, you must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to your own vehicle.

Role Description

We are looking for a Management Accountant who will lead in providing financial advice and support to the North West network. Ensuring appropriate financial control with a particular emphasis on timely, accurate and complete reporting, budgeting and forecasting. Includes monthly financial and project reporting and inputs to the month-end accounting process

Role Responsibilities

  • Provide accountancy services and financial advice to Finance and business managers, acting as a business partner for the North West network.
  • Provide financial analysis and evaluation, including building robust budgets and forecasts. Deal with ad-hoc requests in order to support the achievement of the business unit's objectives.
  • Lead the month end process, ensuring the data used is consistent and accurate, the appropriateness of all inputs and outputs, and the completeness, consistency and accuracy of all data. Ensure accounting entries are appropriately classified in accordance with internal policy, accounting standards, and nature of expenditure.
  • Lead financial analysis and data/information services to the investment process through sanction to closure and financial insight to Finance and business and project managers.
  • Compile and produce financial performance reports, including Flash reports, the monthly management reports and regulatory (RRP) reports.
  • Ensure reporting is relevant, timely and accurate. Provide insightful commentaries which adequately explain any data variances to the business managers.
  • Support Finance Managers in establishing, maintaining and monitoring the financial control framework, ensuring compliance with all appropriate controls.
  • Support relevant business stakeholders in understanding and quantifying the financial risks and opportunities for their respective areas.
  • Due to the level of business interaction and support the role may require some travel to operational sites.

Key Candidate Requirements

  • CIMA/ACA/ACCA qualified accountant, would consider strong 'part-qualified' or 'qualified by experience' candidates with relevant experience
  • Prior experience with month end accounting, reporting financial, project accounting, planning and forecasting
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and business acumen
  • Analytical approach with advanced Excel skills
  • Good working knowledge of SAP or equivalent large finance systems
  • Some local travel required with role, so a full UK driving licence holder with own vehicle is required
