Marine Maintenance Engineer- £34,765 + benefits and exceptional career progression - FTSE 250 organisation

I am recruiting a Marine Maintenance Engineer on behalf of a FTSE 250 Engineering Organization and true market leader within engineering support for the marine and defence industries.

The primary purpose of the role is to provide Oversight of all aspects of a Docked Support Period contract for Single Role Minehunters, ensuring the period is completed to specified standards of quality, within a contracted timeframe and delegated budget. The role also includes:

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitoring project activities against scheduled programme, ensuring progress is reported accurately to the Platform Manger (Oversight)
  • Manage and approve Variations to the contract up to a delegated value including evaluation of sub-con quotes, check and demand MoD materials (if available) and from experience ensure hours for the additional works are just and fair before agreeing a firm price
  • Provide guidance to Ship's Staff on all aspects of the Docked Support period, be instrumental in the planned handover of compartments and harbour trial planning and execution
  • On-site focal point to provide system technical assistance to all stakeholders including Equipment Authorities, Ship's staff and the contractor
  • Above all have a detailed knowledge of the scope of contracted work against the programme informing the Platform Manager (Oversight) if any aspect of that work or variation to that work impacts the agreed programme
  • Stand in for the Platform Manger (Oversight) during periods of their absence

Requirements

  • Experience in ship repair/build environment
  • Understanding of RISK management practises
  • Able to work in a team environment with the ability to interact with both contractors RN personnel and other stakeholders
  • G0od communications skills
  • IT literate in all aspects of MS Office
