A leading Defence and Security Company are looking to bring in a Machinist who will conduct the processing/machining of explosive materials/articles and associated rigs/equipment.

The role
You will be responsible for the delivery of accurately machined explosive components often with new complex shapes/designs to Project Managers/Delivery Leads/Customers.
Demonstrate a good understanding of the HSE requirements applicable to energetic materials processing and machining.
Validate new machining computer programs and demonstrate that they are fit for purpose.
Provide support for the construction of work programme costing including time estimating.
Develop new practical skills and broaden knowledge through on-the-job training and/or external training.
You will also support the proactive maintenance of machining equipment.
The fit

Have a good knowledge and comprehensive understanding of the machining processes, procedures and systems which allow the safe delivery of assigned tasks; show a good understanding of the underlying concepts and principles upon which machining is based.
Show an ability to make judgements based on practice and previous experience by assessing the validity and applicability of previous or similar experiences and use this knowledge to evaluate options under circumstances that are not covered by procedures.
Understand the necessity to deliver high levels of quality on tasks performed and services provided and how this and the timely delivery of work impacts the effectiveness of the local team.
Must be able to exchange ideas and information effectively in a concise and logical way, and be sensitive to audience diversity.
Consistently deliver a high level of performance and understand how that influences the Machining Team by demonstrating enthusiasm and flexibility.

Essential Qualifications
Successful completion of higher education with a minimum of 3 A levels, one of which must be a relevant Engineering discipline, a BTEC or NVQ at Level 3.
A minimum of five years relevant work experience or the completion of an Apprenticeship with a further three years relevant work experience.
Able to interpret engineering drawings and assist in the development of cutting plans.
Undertake the initial design of jigs and fixtures to allow the machining of novel and complex shapes.
Exhibit a high level of competence in the use of different software for the programming of remote CNC mills and lathes to include the writing of new and complex programs.
Apply other corporate software for example Word and Excel in project delivery.

Experience of processing explosive materials is desirable but not essential.
