My client is looking for an exceptional Machine Learning Scientist to join their team based in Edinburgh; this opportunity offers incomparable opportunities to grow both technically and non-technically. Responsibilities

  • As a Machine Learning Scientist, you will be tasked with the responsibility to design, prototype, build and test many possible hypotheses.
  • You will have an outstanding understanding of machine learning methods, with a proven ability to be both creative and mathematical to successfully work in a high-ambiguity environment, using both your quantitative analysis and business judgement.
  • Collaboration with the software engineering teams to incorporate the experimental results on a mass scale, using complex technologies and systems.
  • Reports are to be presented in timely manner; the reports will both be statistically meticulous and engagingly relevant, exemplifying scientific practice within the business environment.
  • Being an organised and pro-active team player, with a strong attention to detail providing the team with real excitement about building real practical products delivering meaningful results to the business.

Key Skills

  • A wide-range of experience with Machine Learning and experience working with software engineers.
  • Strong computer science grounding within a broad range of algorithms and data-structures.
  • Applying Machine Learning to business issues.
  • Strong skills in C++, Java, C#, Perl/Ruby, Python, Lua, R, Matlab, Numpy/Scipy, SAS etc.
  • Expertise in object-orientated programming languages.
  • Expertise with mathematical programming environments.
  • Programming skills adequate to extract, transform and clean large data sets.
  • Experience with large, multi-terabyte data sets.
  • Critical thinking skills, combined with the ability to present ideas and results clearly both written and verbally to those technical and non-technical.
  • Highly motivated, self-started with a can-do attitude, ability to face demanding deadlines.
  • Ability to thrive in a demanding environment, managing multiple projects and priorities across the board.

Qualifications and Experience

  • MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, or any other degree within an equivalent discipline.
  • Great customer service experience, with strong communication skills and experience motivating both self and team to achieve results.
  • Experience presenting technical concepts to audiences both technical and non-technical.
