Lead Lecturer - RAF Lyneham - Wiltshire

A brand new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead Lecturer to join a FTSE 100 Organisation based in Wiltshire. The role will involve leading and managing the academic delivery functions to the standards as set out within the Course Documentation and contract requirements, delivery of lectures for course modules within the Common Engineering Applications Department (Radar, Telecommunications and Control, also including Basic Electronics) and supporting the preparation of course modules as directed by the Academic Delivery Manager (ADM).

Main Tasks

  • Responsible for Line Management support and guidance to staff to maximise individual development relevant to their business role. Also to ensure staff performance via appraisal, discipline and implementation of developmental measures to address any performance issues. To ensure lecturer absence (planned or unplanned) within their Team is discussed with the ADM and Training Planning in order to enable the allocation of a replacement instructor. Dealing with daily staff administration/ documentation.
  • Ensure Delivery of training modules to Phase 2 and Phase 3 trainees as scheduled by Training Planning.
  • To prepare lesson plans and practical sessions in accordance of the approved CTP. Review course content to ensure it is current and evolves to support advances in techniques and technologies using most appropriate teaching aids. Notify any identified shortcomings to Course Design.
  • Provide SME input to the Training Design Team and to assist them in the preparation of relevant training material.
  • Provide forecasting input to the ADM to support long term and short term teaching, examination, invigilation, course marking and manning levels are adequate and also instructional aids, accommodation needs and equipment /tools are resourced in accordance with company and Authority policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring student development through monitoring, feedback appraisal, discipline and training interventions, ensuring all supporting documentation is maintained and that any special student developmental needs or training delays are flagged to the relevant Authority and company Management chain.

Technical Experience and Qualifications (Essential)

  • BSC Level 1 Working Safely
  • First Degree in engineering (Electronics) or CEng recognition in a professional institution, relevant to subjects being taught for Advanced level (L4- L7) academic modules.
  • Supervisory experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook packages
  • Computer literate able to learn and use new engineering and scientific software packages in a teaching context.

Technical Experience and Qualifications (Desirable)

  • Either BSC Level 2 Supervising Staff Safely or IOSH Managing Safely
  • Have or completed the Certificate of Education and Training Level 4, or equivalent and complete a Care of Trainee course.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a teaching environment
  • Knowledge of military environment and equipment
  • Knowledge of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers trade Structure and operational requirements.
  • Membership of a relevant Professional Institution
