Key Account Manager - Pets Retail

Location: field based role covering the UK

Salary: c. £40-45,000 base salary + bonus, company car, generous benefits package (private medical and dental cover, pension, 25 days holiday, childcare vouchers, critical illness cover, etc.)

Key Account Manager (Pets Retail) - this exciting opportunity has just come up with a top 5 Animal Healthcare company with excellent reputation within the industry, and a strong product pipeline.

In this role, you will have a fantastic opportunity to further develop Pet Specialist National Accounts and manage the field sales team developing the independent pet shop channel. Reporting directly to the Head of Retails Sales - Pets, you will professionally establish, develop and sell the range of company products through selected pet businesses.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Initiate and develop sales through commercial businesses via wholesalers. Effective planning, forecasting and management of the business, in order to achieve sales targets.
  • Call regularly on targeted key customers and influencers, improving and developing business relationships, ensuring high level of support and promotion of company products.
  • Ensure that the sales teams activities are properly directed and controlled in accordance with the agreed campaigns and priorities for the pets retail business unit.
  • To fully understand targeted customers` businesses, what their driving principles are, their supply requirements, their future aspirations and the competitive landscape.
  • Ensure that key corporate customers are provided with relevant technical information and advice necessary to make correct buying decisions and fully promote the appropriate range of company products.
  • To investigate and resolve complaints, quickly and efficiently and ensure that such are promptly and fully reported to Head Office in accordance with company procedures.
  • Partner with the Product Management team and other functional teams to ensure that marketing plans are developed and adapted to best effect for use by pet national accounts
  • Provide innovative solutions and recommendations to further improve area performance and customer satisfaction

REQUIRED SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A high level of understanding of the sales role, with experience managing a sales team
  • Animal healthcare experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Ability to plan, organise and prioritise, and able to work independently
  • A high degree of professionalism, problem solving and influencing skills
