Date: 2016 Java Developer (VocaLink) Contract: Eleven months (high chance of renewal)

Daily Rate: POA (Daily Rate)

Start Date: Immediately End Date: September, 2017

Description of our client:

Our downtown Dublin City Centre Client is looking for a resource to join their team on an eleven month initial contract. Our client is a major banking institution. This role will be working with payment systems as part of a team that will be working on a refresh project for payment systems.

The Role:

The developer will work as part of the BACS and FPS (payment systems) Application refresh team and deliver high quality Java code for BACS and FPS related projects.

The developer will work in a matrix environment on one or more concurrent projects.

The developer will be fully accountable to the Development Manager(s) for all work assigned, including

  • Technical Analysis
  • Design and Development
  • Unit Testing and Documentation
  • Mentoring
  • Test & Warranty Support

The developer will work on Agile-based project, and input into the broader organisational model of best practice Agile delivery.

Specialization and Skills:

Java Developer 7 - 10 years

Requirements:

Good detailed understanding using Java frameworks including Struts, Spring, Hibernate, JSP (Must-have)

Good working Knowledge of various tools including Git, Subversion, Maven, Gradle, Jira, Confluence, Nexus, Sonar etc (Must-have)

Previous experience working in an Agile environment and ideally working on multiple projects at the same time. (Must-have)

Additional Requirements:

Experience of migrating code across source code management tools. E.g. ClearCase to Git

Experience of migrating Java code from one version of Java to another e.g. Java 6 to Java 7

Experience of migrating frameworks to newer versions E.g. Migrating from Struts 1.x to Struts 2.x or from Spring 2.x to Spring 3.x

Experience of identifying and fixing security vulnerabilities in third party libraries/open source frameworks

Work Environment: Working as part of an existing development team reporting to a team lead
