IT Systems Engineer - Managed Service Provider

£25,000pa to £30,000pa + £5,000 Car Allowance + Pension + O/T + On-Call at £250 per month

Will suit Candidates based in the Warwickshire, West Midlands and the North Oxfordshire area.

Microsoft Servers, Server Clustering, Active Directory, Group Policy, Windows Remote Desktop, Virtualisation, VMware and/or Hyper-V, vSphere, Citrix XenApp, HPE & Dell Servers, MS Azure, Office 365, Backup/Archiving technologies; Veeam Backup & Replication, Serer Networking TCP/IP, DNS, WINS, DHCP, Scripting (PowerShell), Disaster Recovery, Replication and Recovery services, Storage & SAN (HPE).

Role Details:

This client are one of the UK's leading independent provider of IT infrastructure services, enabling users and their businesses.

They are urgently pursuing the services of a focused and energetic IT Systems and Support Engineer, who will report to the IT Service Manager at a Warwickshire based headquarters.

This is a genuine career opportunity for a talented 2nd & 3rd Line IT Support Engineer / Technician experienced in Windows Server and Virtualization technologies and Layer 2 & Layer 3 networking. On offer is a key position working on a broad range of the latest technology, with a team of talented colleagues.

Travel to customer sites will be required as part of the role so a clean UK driving license and own vehicle is essential.

Your key responsibilities will consist of:

  • Installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of infrastructure and systems
  • Offer expertise within the team for the resolution of all technical incidents and problems
  • Make a significant contribution in delivering continual tangible and measurable benefits and value in terms of improving customer service & satisfaction and operational efficiency, whilst reducing risk and operational costs to minimal levels
  • Instigate and orchestrate changes to infrastructure and systems, in line with change control processes
  • Support, coach and mentor the more junior members of the team, leading by example
  • Contribute with ideas and suggestions on continuous service improvement
  • Develop, produce and maintain IT documentation and following IT procedures as required Desired

  • Microsoft Server technologies; MS Server, MS Clustering, Active Directory Services, Group Policy, Windows Remote Desktop
  • Virtualisation technologies; VMware ESX Server, Hyper-V
  • Server Hardware: HPE & Dell Servers.
  • vSphere, HA, Citrix XenApp
  • Microsoft Azure, Office 365
  • Backup/Archiving technologies; Veeam Backup and Replication
  • Server Networking including TCP/IP, DNS, WINS, DHCP
  • Scripting knowledge (PowerShell)
  • Disaster Recovery, Replication and Recovery services
  • Storage technologies: SAN (HPE)
  • Experience supporting SME / Enterprise level infrastructures
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to achieve prompt resolution
  • Strong experience of incident and problem management including 3rd party service providers
  • Capable of managing concurrent projects
  • Solid operational understanding of service management standards and tools; ITIL V3 Foundation qualified
  • Industry recognised qualifications including but not limited to Microsoft Certified (MCSA, MCSE) and VMWare Certified Professional (VCP)
