About the role

To create and support the development of Purchasing/Category/Supplier strategies within IT that will provide a structured approach to managing spend that will identify savings opportunities whilst supporting the current and future needs of the business. This will involve working closely with the key stakeholders within the IT department to determine business requirements, determining appropriate commercial strategies that will deliver cost efficiencies and then identifying and developing suppliers to support the business and its customers. Take responsibility for locking in savings and benefits through ongoing contract and supplier management activities.

Key Accountabilities


* Creation of new /refinement of existing sourcing strategies and recommend suggestions for improvement.
* Develop and maintain an ongoing pipeline of savings opportunities.
* Manage all aspects of the sub category including both sourcing and supplier management activities.
* Execute sourcing strategies by working with key stakeholders to develop supplier evaluation and selection criteria, as appropriate for each spend category as part of agreed procurement strategy
* Lead the negotiation with suppliers, working closely with technical, commercial and legal support.
* Obtain savings approvals and record all savings achieved through sourcing activities.
* To procure goods and services on behalf of the stakeholders ensuring best value is obtained
* To negotiate improved terms and conditions where possible to enhance the purchasing benefits with suppliers

What do I need to do the role?

* Able to demonstrate a proven track record in developing and executing success procurement strategies

* Previous experience in a procurement environment, preferably within the IT category area and with knowledge of a range of IT related categories, including software, hardware and services.
* Experience in sourcing, contract negotiation, contract management and supplier relationship
* Confidence and ability to demonstrate the value that professional procurement can deliver to the organisation
* Self-starter, demonstrating initiative, ability to motivate, positive and customer focused attitude
* Ability to work in a fast-paced and results driven team environment
* Entrepreneurial view on complex tasks and clear attitude to deliver high value to internal and external clients

Qualifications:

* Degree level or equivalent
* CIPS Qualified or working towards

What else do I need to know?

You must have or be able to gain MOD SC security clearance and other security clearances as contracts demand; e.g. Met Police, CRB Check.

This role is based in Lakeside, Portsmouth. A vibrant and accessible campus that has shops, restaurants, hairdressers and a nursery on site. It has parking for employees and runs a free shuttle bus from city centre trains and bus stops.
