IT Operations Support Engineer - West Bromwich - £30,000-£36,000 + On Call + Excellent Benefits

Working on behalf of our client, we are currently seeking an articulate ambitious individual and team player to work in an IT Operations Support Capacity. Joining the IT Computer Operations team, you will become a key player in the implementation and ongoing support of departmental and strategic goals. You will be a senior member of the team providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior member of the team. Day to day your responsibilities will include;

  • Batch scheduling solution - BMC Control M and EMC Networker
  • Backup and recovery solution
  • Providing Technical Support to critical systems
  • Be a point of reference for the other team members
  • Deputise for the IT Operations Team Leader in their absence
  • Lead projects from a technical perspective
  • Provide Technical support for any system or job failures during allocated shifts and outside of core working hours on a rota basis.
  • Provide technical support for any system or batch failures
  • Manage and develop batch schedules, which run 24 hours a day, resolving issues at the point of failure including out of hours. Manage and develop the backup and recovery solution
  • Perform regular recovery tests.
  • Ensure faults are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Create and update operational documentation, review and contribute to policy and procedure documents and create technical resolution documentation based on operational failures
  • Provide support for service and patching failures and resolving the problem

Skills you will utilise:

  • Experience supporting and managing a backup and recovery solution as well as supporting and managing a batch scheduling solution including developing and designing new schedules
  • Good understanding of batch scheduling and backup and recovery solutions, preferably BMC Control M and EMC Networker
  • Experience of providing services based on SLA's and taking necessary corrective action to ensure agreed SLA's are met
  • Good understanding of Microsoft office products as well as a keen interest in IT
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong prioritisation and time management skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Have a flexible approach to work and be able to respond to challenging situations.

Permanent - Full Time: 07:00-15:00, 09:00-17:00 and 15:00-23:00 (rota basis) also 1 in 4 Saturdays 08:00-14:00 Additional overtime is a requirement.
