One of the world's most well-established organisations in the biotech/life sciences domain are currently looking to recruit an IT Director to develop and oversee delivery of the IT strategy necessary to support the divisional 5 year business plan. Reporting to both the CIO and divisional MD, your role will be to provide expert leadership and management across the IT applications and act as the IT representative within the division's Senior Leadership Team.
The role will require a blend of good technical, strong leadership and senior management competencies. This is a brand new position and is therefore a great opportunity to make a genuine impact and influence at a very senior level.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Leads development and delivery of the long-term technology strategy within the Division, ensuring this complies with or informs the overall Group IT Strategy and the Divisional 5 year plan.
  • Oversees the management of and support for all related applications, systems and technologies
  • Acts as member of Group IT management team under the Group CIO
  • Ownership and delivery of business cases necessary to further delivery of the IT roadmap
  • Actively participates in business strategy sessions across the Division
  • Responsible for developing strategies and exploiting technologies to support agreed Divisional targets
  • R&D and innovation: Proactively seeking ways to introduce new technologies
  • Ensures that appropriate standards (corporate, industry, national and international) are adhered to across the IT Function
  • Information security: Ensure that the principles of information security (confidentiality, integrity, availability) are integral parts of the enterprise architecture
  • Provide valuable and/or crucial expertise as an integral part of management decisions
  • Manage IT budget within the constraints of the Group Authority levels and authorisation of expenditure
  • Work with IT Leadership to build consensus around solutions

Knowledge, experience and technical Skills required

  • Experience: Extensive relevant experience in a senior IT management position in a Biotech/Life Sciences organisation
  • Experience: significant experience as a team manager, responsible for technical staff development, retention and replacement
  • Strong experience dealing with systems and technologies which support the delivery of a mid-range organisation ideally in life sciences/biotech
  • Excellent technical, organisational and overall leadership skills, with experience in across multiple elements of IT services and delivery
  • Experience working with different geographical locations - i.e. global role.
  • Experience with programme/project management, planning and estimating
  • Strong understanding of and application of Industry Best Practices
  • Solid understanding of IT security standards and best practices
