IT Business Analyst - This is initially a 12 month Fixed Term Contract. To act as a liaison between the business and the IT function. Work with the Business Solution Managers, Project and Governance and Head of Applications functions to understand, capture and document business requirements across the Engineering, Asset Management and Training domains. Present requirements in a way that allows subsequent project, stakeholder and customer needs to be successfully met.


  • Use appropriate modelling techniques to document business and technical requirements accurately across the Engineering, Asset Management and Training domains
  • Explicitly communicate and confirm requirements to sponsors, stakeholders and project team members and support the development of business case project documentation and solutions
  • Support the testing of solutions as part of the wider project team and IT organisation
  • Create an environment of continuous improvement and knowledge transfer across the business and capability domains
  • Help business stakeholders envision the future operating environment and understand how their processes and ways of working may need to change to support this new model. Identify current and potential future-state business processes
  • Be an active member of a Project and Governance function and provide support to the Solution and Innovation function as necessary

Key Skills:

  • Full driving licence
  • Enterprise architecture (Sparx) experience
  • Knowledge of MS Visio or other Business Process Mapping Tools
  • Experience of mapping the flow of information around the business and translate this into coherent, usable technology processes
  • Experience of business requirement analysis, process improvement and benefits modelling
  • Strategic approach to investigating, documenting and extracting critical information. Demonstrable ability to process vast amounts of information and display methodical attention to detail
  • Experience of influencing a business change based upon investigation, evaluation and communication skills
  • An excellent listener able to demonstrate an understanding of what is important to the business. Competent at collating and presenting detailed/viable business propositions/solutions to gain consensus throughout the company.
  • Work effectively in a matrix / virtual team environment
  • Sound business and IT acumen. Capable of facilitating the link between business and IT requirements
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies in the Engineering, Asset Management and Training domains
  • Background of operating in Support Services / Outsourcing industries, ideally with experience of the Engineering, Asset Management and Training environments

The successful candidate will be required to undergo UK MOD SC Clearance
