Role: Business Analyst
Hours: Standard Working Hours
Salary: £45,000 to £50,000 depending on experience
The IT Business Analyst will capture and validate requirements for new and existing applications, represent the business viewpoint throughout the development process, and support the business during testing of the developed solution in line with IT strategy and organisational goals.
Investigating processes and systems to identify opportunities for business improvement
o Ensure existing conventions are challenged at all appropriate opportunities, identifying improvements and analysing and documenting them regardless of the ultimate outcome.
o Use of suitable investigation techniques such as conducting interviews and workshops
o Conduct business process modelling using tools such as BPMN and UML
o Identify stakeholders and analysing their needs and expectations
Supporting business change
o Assist with the development of business and financial cases
o Ensure that processes and procedures developed and implemented during the business change are accurately documented
o Assist with the implementation of system, process, controls or procedural changes in line with project deliverables
o Facilitate transition to BAU processes and procedures
o Understand stakeholder priorities and manage their expectations
Communicating IT system requirements
o Perform requirements elicitation using suitable techniques
o Analysis of requirements to ensure that they are clear, logically organised, prioritised and valid
o Communicate requirements to stakeholders using models and documentation
o Manage requirements through the project lifecycle
Supporting IT system development
o Produce test cases and perform testing where required
o Manage requirements change
o Manage user acceptance
Knowledge, skills and Personal Qualities Required
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
o Solid and extensive business analysis experience, minimum 5 years.
o Experience of working on enterprise scale application implementations
o Experience of supporting large change programmes across a multi-business unit organisation
o Experience of working with a range of stakeholders from the business and IT
o Demonstrable knowledge of different project life cycles including: waterfall and agile
The successful candidate will ideally have:
o Experience within the defence or other projects based industry
o An understanding of the major enterprise PPM tools
o An understanding of relevant technologies used by the development team
o An understanding of SAP, particularly SAP 4 HANA
The challenges associated with the role relate the varied nature of the projects that the successful candidate will be working on and that they will need to be able to work on more than one project at a time.
o Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and able to liaise effectively with personnel at all levels across multiple regions and time zones
o Logical and analytical approach, with the ability to perform structured analysis and solve complex concepts/ issues
o Ability to challenge the status quo and suggest viable alternatives
o Demonstrable accuracy and attention to detail
o Ability to work independently and ensure successful delivery of assigned tasks
o Ability to work effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines
o Degree educated or suitable experience.
o ISEB Business Analysis Diploma
o APM Practitioner or equivalent project management qualification.
