My client is an analytics provider based in the city of London. They are currently seeking an International VAT advisor to join them on a 6 month interim contract.

You should ideally be immediately available or on a maximum of 2 weeks' notice.

Job Purpose

To assist the Tax Director and VAT Manager to manage the VAT and other sales tax related processes. Ensure tax compliancy and efficiency whilst completing timely filing of returns and payments, and ensuring appropriate recording of transactions to minimise risk.

This role would suit an enthusiastic, hands on, enquiring self-starter. You will be working on a variety of VAT and GST issues from advising on invoice posting to helping with the accounting system development. You will have contact with shared service centre staff helping them develop an understanding of global rules and assisting in the management of professional advisers preparing VAT and GST returns around the globe, understanding compliance issues and requirements from Europe to Asia and Latin America to ensure the group is VAT and GST compliant.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Management of international VAT compliance process, ensuring VAT returns accurately completed, including Europe, India and Latin America
  • VAT returns filed and payments made on a timely basis
  • Assist with VAT registrations across various jurisdictions
  • Manage audit queries
  • Review month end VAT reconciliations and ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Map VAT processes and identify areas for improvement
  • Provide support and assistance to colleagues throughout the business, particularly accounting groups
  • Train shared service centre staff to improve quality of VAT information

Education, Knowledge & Required Skills

  • CIMA, ACCA, ACA or AAT qualified
  • Relevant tax accounting experience
  • Experience of VAT compliance in Europe
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Organised and analytical with strong attention to detail
  • Able to work to tight deadlines and under pressure
  • Strong MS Excel skills and SAP experience
