Instructor - Ancillary and General - RAF Lyneham - Wiltshire

A brand new and exciting opportunity has arisen for an Ancillary and General Instructor to join a FTSE 100 Organisation based in Wiltshire. The role will include the preparation and delivery of instruction on course modules in the Ancillary & General Department in support of the DCTT EMTC including Lesson plans, training aids, précis and student hand outs.

Main Tasks

  • To prepare and deliver instruction on course modules in the Ancillary & General Department in support of the DCTT EMTC including Lesson plans, training aids, précis and student hand outs.
  • To prepare relevant training material, if necessary involving Media and Graphics Department input, to provide relevant Ancillary & General Instructional Training. Maintain personal CPD portfolio in respect of new technologies and equipment ensuring that lesson plans are training sessions are developed in accordance of the approved Course Training Plans (CTP).
  • Review course material and content to ensure it is current and evolves to support equipment and technology advances using the most appropriate training aids.
  • Assessment of trainees to include: Creation of written examination and progress test papers, Creation of practical assessment/examination scenario and continuous assessments. Marking of examination papers, Setting and marking of course and homework, Invigilation of examination and assessments.
  • Ensuring student development through monitoring, feedback appraisal, discipline and training interventions, ensuring all supporting documentation is maintained and that any special student developmental needs or training delays are flagged to the Lead Trainer. Delivery of remedial training and revision as necessary.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Minimum CGLI City & Guilds Part 3, NVQ L3, Apprenticeship in an Allied and General trade, with experience of Coded Welding, Fitting/turning, Metal fabrication, including Ferrous and Aluminium or served as a Tradesman Class I Metalsmith or Shipwright in REME, or RE Welder/Fabricator (Or equivalent RN/RAF). - Essential
  • BSC Level 1 Working Safely - Essential
  • Level 4 CET - Desirable
  • Completed the full DTTT suite of modules with CoT or CTLLS or equivalent teaching qualification. - Desirable
  • Supervisory experience - Essential
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a relevant working environment - Essential
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook packages (Computer literate) - Essential
  • Knowledge of military environment and equipment - Desirable
  • Knowledge of the REME trade Structure and operational requirements. Especially relevant to the Workshop Technology Department - Desirable

  • Ability to maintain credibility with customers at all levels including students and external bodies
  • Champions and supports all H&SE initiatives and procedures and cascades this ethos effectively to staff and students.
  • Clear and relevant Technical Experience.
  • Demonstrable CPD towards keeping abreast of changes in technology, and technolog based teaching.
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
  • Able to coach and mentor students to achieve their best.
