Infrastructure Architect

London

6 Months + ext

Our banking client is looking for a well seasoned infrastructure architect to asap on client site in London. Initial 6 month contract with extension. Candidate will be on client site daily.

  • A good understanding of the Financial Services Industry would be a bonus
  • Ability to work with others to deliver continuous improvement
  • High-level data modelling understanding and experience
  • Experience of implementing frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman, patterns, standards,
  • guidelines and tools to be used for software architecture and then ensuring they are followed
  • as well as experience producing RAID logs/risk registers and managing architectural risk
  • through the project lifecycle
  • TOGAF certified
  • Experience with formal development methodologies (e.g. Prince2, RUP, Scrum)

Essential to have:

  • Ability to work on-site full-time at the FCA offices.
  • Experience in being managed in a matrix environment
  • Ability to work with imperfect information whilst still maintaining high standard, evidenced
  • designs and documentation
  • Ability to provide expert technical advice to senior business and IS stakeholders on
  • complex programmes in a dynamic environment
  • Strong risk management skills to manage architectural risk through the project lifecycle
  • Good level of commercial awareness, the ability to understand supplier proposals and
  • promote cost effective solutions
  • Experience working with multiple solutions service providers
  • Excellent understanding of the interactions between people, processes and technology
  • Reliable, determined, highly motivated & proactive
  • Can demonstrate innovative and creative approach to problem-solving
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Good interpersonal and negotiating skills, with the ability to influence internal and external
  • stakeholders to achieve results.
  • Past experience of designing systems or components, ideally on large projects
  • Experience of working in end to end during lifecycle of project
  • Good overall knowledge of a broad range of technology and technology trends
  • Experience with working with 3rd party or offshore suppliers to ensure the delivery of high
  • quality designs that conform to the Infrastructure architecture blue print
  • Specialist technical background Skills in some of the following areas:-
  • In-depth knowledge of Active, directory (2012) setup, GP's , Webservers , DNS,
  • DHCP
  • In-depth knowledge of Remote access for third party support ( Eg VDI , Citrix
  • desktop)
  • In-depth knowledge of Virtualisation technologies( VMware ESX)
  • Knowledge of Cloud based technologies like Azure AD, AWS integration with
  • existing infrastructure
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure architecture design principles, standards, and
  • strategies, including areas such as backup, archive and retention strategies.
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Security Infrastructure (GSI networks, Antivirus,
  • Patching, Firewalls, IPS/IDS, Certificates, Secure file transfer like Axway, )
  • Experience of Data Centre migrations, technology re-plat forming, technology
  • upgrade projects ,legacy decommissioning projects
  • Exposure to Storage Solutions (SAN, NAS, File store)
  • Exposure to Unix/Linux/Solaris Infrastructure
  • Exposure to MIME sweeper for Windows Exchange , Enterprise Management
  • tools e.g. Blade Logic , ADDM , SCCM (2007 & 2012), Oracle Enterprise
  • Manager, Control-M,DSM (ITCM 12.5), OIM
  • Exposure to Database and Middleware (Oracle Database, Oracle Fusion, Oracle
  • Exadata, BEA/Oracle web logic ,Tomcat, JBoss )
  • Exposure to Networking with Cisco, Symantec, Bluecoat, Checkpoint and Nokia
  • equipment, Big IP , Routers, Firewalls, Load balancers Proxy servers, Layers 2 &
  • 3 Switches, Wireless technologies, LAN, WAN, Traffic management, and VOIP.

Job Summary/Responsibilities:

  • Ability to provide expert technical advice and act as a SME on various projects covering
  • Various Technology stacks but not limited to Windows, Email, AD, Virtual desktops and Cloud
  • integration

  • Good understanding of architectural concepts, methodologies and mapping approaches
  • Experience of working with 3rd party suppliers and ability to represent ideas and desire
  • robustly
  • Experience of stakeholder management at all levels; both internally and externally
  • Demonstrate substantial experience in applying architecture principles to affect changes to a
  • business environment
  • Ability to grasp issues of a business nature and explain technical issues in business language
  • Experience of working in a large scale infrastructure environment
  • Familiarity with, or ability to quickly grasp, the business drivers of the FCA as well as its
  • primary processes
  • Sound commercial approach to identifying solutions
  • Ability to apply strategic and innovative thinking to problem solving within a regulatory context
