Role:

Responsible for the infrastructure architecture across on-premise / private and public cloud ecosystem. The role will be responsible for cloud adoption, application design patterns and cloud management and monitoring.

A hands-on infrastructure architect with extensive experience of working in a secure environment at the cutting-edge high of performance computing.

Key Skills:

  • Own cloud migration strategy and roadmap for products working with SQUADS in multidisciplinary teams
  • Responsible for ensuring solutions are scalable, robust and secure
  • Own the network design including virtual private cloud, VPN, firewalls
  • Develop standards and guidance for the adoption of cloud services
  • Own the strategy to deliver High performance compute and peta byte scale storage
  • Work with product teams, devOps and sysOps engineers to provide assistance with designing and building out the infrastructure using infrastructure as code
  • Provide governance and oversight of infrastructure architecture
  • Monitor systems and provide proactive performance and cost optimisation support
  • Review and support the testing of changes to networks / hosted systems / cloud configuration changes
  • Produce patterns and support quality assurance
  • Perform reviews of deployed technology solutions to ensure that solutions have adopted best practices
  • Know and understand the meaning behind our virtues of Empathy, Integrity, Focus, Connection, Speed, Curiosity, Impact and embody them in all aspects of your role

Cloud Skills:

  • Own the architecture for core shared components cloud services include key management, Identity and access management, logging
  • Develop standards and guidance for the adoption of cloud services
  • Ability to script CI/CD CloudFormation / Terraform
  • Track record of implementing complex cloud migration projects

Security Skillset:

  • Ensure all products are secure by design
  • Provide guidance and develop security patterns and best practice
  • Research and design security features of products
  • Ensure all clinical data is secure at rest and transit appropriately encrypted
  • Stay up to date on cyber security threats, tools and best practice
  • Demonstrated understanding of security implications of transformation - Challenge and lead changes to policy and processes to support business outcomes, business architecture, and legal and political implications
  • Analysis - Ability to provide analysis and support to identify cyber security risks
  • Communication skills - Ability to communicate security risks to technical and non-technical users
  • Design secure systems - Lead the design and review of complex solution architectures to ensure the solution meets security guidance and best practice
  • Security technology and understanding - understand and articulate the impact of vulnerabilities on existing and future designs, systems and how easy or difficult it will be to exploit these vulnerabilities. Recognised as an expert by peers in the broader security industry
  • Research and innovation - Able to contribute to and inform developments on security properties in technology. You can identify new technologies and design the use of these in the business context across the organisation.

Essential Skills:

  • Deep knowledge & practical experience (4 years plus) of public cloud services implementation
  • Expertise in network / firewalls architecture / design
  • Ability to architect and deliver solutions in a complex, petabyte scale, High Performance Compute environment
  • Ability to script (python, PowerShell)
  • Ability to architect secure, fault tolerant, scalable solutions
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Experience managing / designing data centre operations including auditing, monitoring, altering
  • Hands on expertise across technology infrastructure including networking, compute, storage and virtualisation/ containerisation

Desirable skills:

  • AWS certified advanced networking specialist
  • Experience of HPC high performance I/O solutions Weka.io / Luster sfx
  • Experience with cloud identify services IAM Okta
  • Experience of architecting and securing object stores, relational and non-relational databases at Peta byte scale e. MongoDB, redshift, snowflake, AWS RDS

Academic:

  • Degree level qualification
  • AWS certified architect professional / AWS Infrastructure architect
