HR Business Partner (International) - Hampshire/Surrey


The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a HR Business Partner to join a leading global Defence, Technology & Security organisation. This role is based in the UK (Hampshire/Surrey), but due to the geographical spread of our organisation, this position will involve occasional international travel.

  • Deliver the HR strategy to meet key business objectives
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to proactively identify areas where HR can add value
  • Create solutions in support of strategic goals, operational performance and develop organisational and people capability, across a variety of UK and international subsidiary businesses
  • You will create the right environment for people to realise their potential across the business
  • Due to the geographical spread of our organisation, this position will involve some UK, Middle East, US and Canadian travel. This is a great opportunity to see and understand the work we do and build relationships with key stakeholder from the very start

Business and Commercial Leadership:

  • Collaborate within the business to fully understand the key business performance indicators, objectives and drivers, and associated people requirements for both the current and future business challenges. Varying advice between established business and new start up business with different needs and stages in development
  • Take a proactive approach and provide solutions to business and commercial challenges, and also work with the business across multiple sites to establish the best business model for the business (such as partnerships, and overseas developments)
  • Take a lead in developing international resourcing and reward strategies for direct local hire, global moves and succession and talent mapping and implement these.
  • Provide creative input for enhancing business performance with particular focus on employee engagement levels and leadership
  • Provide solutions and expertise to achieve business restructuring and acquisitions

Business Area HR Strategy:

  • Contribute to the formulation, development and implementation of HR strategy linked to business objectives and KPIs covering:
    - Workforce planning
    - Talent and capability development
    - Resourcing
    - Performance management
    - Leadership Development
    - Acquisition integration
    - Employee relations including employee communication and consultation
    - Organisation design
    - Anticipate solutions in support of strategic goals and improving business performance in change management, all key people plans

Group HR Functions:

  • Work in partnership with Group HR Functions to provide the business inputs they require and access their expertise to meet own business area objectives
  • Input to Group HR initiatives to ensure they are achievable within the HRBP's own business area(s)
  • Lead and represent Group strategy initiatives in the business


  • Contribute to senior and specialist resourcing activity for own business area(s) and take a lead role with Group Resourcing and Reward in developing regional resourcing models for US & Canada



  • Stakeholder management experience
  • Change management experience
  • Experience leading multi-site, cross- functional teams with an international remit
  • Degree level qualification
  • Leadership skills and experience managing a team


  • Experience working in a Technology environment
  • Understanding of deploying staff on a global basis
  • Skilled in utilising international compensation and mobility strategies
  • Successful completion of a recognised HR training course (CIPD etc.)
  • Experience working with the US or Canada specifically
