Lecturer Health and Safety Management

Competitive package

Are you passionate about Health and Safety, would thrive in a teaching environment and enjoy being at the heart of developing the safety culture of the Army's engineering Corps? We are looking for you to be a lecturer in Health and Safety management to a variety of Army personnel from Corporal to senior officers mostly from the Army's Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME).

For more than a century this large Engineering, Aerospace and Defence Company, has been trusted to deliver bespoke, highly skilled engineering services across a multitude of industries. We help customers in the UK and around the world to improve the capability, reliability and availability of their most critical assets within our four market sectors of Marine, Land, Aviation, and Nuclear, underpinned by a deep understanding of technology integration, unique infrastructure, and specialist training.

Within our Land division we have an exciting opportunity as a Lecturer Health and Safety Management playing a key role within the Electro-Mechanical Training Contract (EMTC) at MOD Lyneham. Working within a FTSE 250 company, which is the second largest supplier of Support Services to Defence you will be part of a team who delivering engineering leadership and management training.

Health and Safety forms a critical aspect of all this training and this role provides the opportunity to work alongside Army Safety Centre and be included within the Army Safety Matrix. Army Safety is all about protecting the force that protects the nation.

Training our armed forces is both rewarding and a privilege. You will support learning by engaging, challenging perceptions and influencing. You will be working with some of the brightest and academically qualified operators in the services. We constantly ask ourselves "have we done the best we can do each and every day to ensure the soldiers we train have the opportunity to maximise their potential". To achieve this, we are looking for someone who will continually develop themselves, ensure the training delivered is modern and contributes to providing the best learning experience and outcomes whilst ensuring we comply with OFSTED and supervisory care directives.

What do I need to do the role?

One of the courses you deliver is a British Safety Council Level 3 Certificate, therefore you will need at least a level 6 qualification in Health and Safety. You will ideally be CMIOSH or FIIRSM, or actively working toward this stage of professional development.

Two years recent practical experience in Health and Safety management is required to give you the credibility with those you will be working and teaching. Military experience is an advantage as you will need to be familiar with the military command structure and the relevant military policies and procedures.

A background in engineering management will be an advantage as you will mainly be dealing with health and safety controls in an engineering environment.

You will be expected to develop, maintain and update learning material and work with the minimum of supervision. You will be the subject matter expert amongst generalists so tact diplomacy and the ability to form reason arguments is essential.
