Head of Information Security - Birmingham

New and exciting opportunity for a passionate and dedicated Head of Information Security looking for the next stage in their career.

Our client is a global organisation with several UK locations looking for a Head of Information Security to ensure overall security is maintained across the organisation in the UK and at internationally based contracts.

You will be working in partnership with the Group Information Security Officer representing security strategy and security interest across all levels of the business to ensure policy and information governance are maintained.

Your responsibilities would include:

  • Support the development and maintenance of the Group Information Security strategy and accompanying framework(s)
  • Provide support to develop and update Information Security directives, policies, standards and guidance in conjunction with the Divisions. Manage appropriate updates and approvals via the Information Security Forum
  • Perform Divisional Information Security reviews where appropriate and ensure timely management and resolution of non-compliance issues defined both internally and externally
  • Work with external consultants as appropriate for independent security audits
  • Support the development and maintenance of the Group Information Security training and awareness approach and support divisions in developing and delivering their material
  • Support and oversee Information Security incident response planning as well as the investigation of security breaches, and assist with disciplinary and legal matters associated with such breaches as necessary
  • Support the preparation and co-ordination of Information Security training and awareness initiatives across the Divisions
  • Follow all relevant legislation and liaise with the Divisions to ensure that security measures adequately protect Interserve staff, client and supplier information
  • Provide effective communication around key Information Security activities across the Interserve Group
  • Undertake such additional duties as are reasonably commensurate with the level of this post
  • Provide support for information risk assessments, management and reporting to the Risk Committee
  • Provide support for information security within HR processes
  • Provide support to external penetration testing programmes

Required skills and experience include:

  • Preferably educated to degree level with professional Information Security qualifications (this should be CISM or CISSP or others such as the GIAC certifications or Membership of the Institute of Information Security Professionals)
  • Extensive experience working in multinational Information Security environments, including experience of Senior management roles
  • Experience of leading major security programmes underpinned by complex IT solutions in a variety of industries and cultures. Recognised as achieving high levels of performance and customer satisfaction

The work will be office based in the Midlands area but with some travel around the country and abroad from time to time, flexibility is essential. Out of hours work may be required. The role holder will be expected to communicate and work with a wide and varied audience including Group wide HR, Legal, Risk and IT Teams, Director(s) and Senior Management, Operational and Customer facing staff. Additionally, they will be expected to communicate to business customers as part of service delivery reviews. The role holder will be expected to liaise with 3rd party suppliers and support companies where required.
