Head of Ground Operations - Civil Aviation

Role Summary:

We're currently on the hunt for an individual to fulfil our Head of Ground Operations vacancy with QinetiQ. This opportunity is being recruited for on both a contract and permanent basis

The role requires extensive Civil Aviation experience including leadership and the ability to establish and deliver a complex Ground Operations function.

Specification:

Ground Operations Managers report to the Head of Ground Operations and are responsible for day to day management and ensuring the safety, regulatory compliance and efficiency of all QinetiQ's manned civil aviation ground operations, currently including the QinetiQ Civil Flying Organisation (QCFO), Approved Training Organisation (ATO) and Flight Test Organisation (FTO).

Specific responsibilities:

  • Day to day liaison and management including aspects of technical oversight of contracted EASA Part 145 / BCAR A8-23 and EASA Part M / BCAR A8-25 maintenance and continued airworthiness operations, and liaison with Type and Supplemental Type Certificate holders;
  • Day to day management and control of cost;
  • Day to day management and implementation of the flying programme for QinetiQ's manned civil aviation operations.
  • Day to day liaising and scheduling of flight crews in conjunction with QCFO Operations Staff ensuring compliance with the QCFO's Flight Time Limitations (FTL) schemes
  • Scheduling of aircraft and day to day liaison with airworthiness management / maintenance organisations to maximise efficiency, availability and use of aircraft;
  • Liaison with other departments to ensure that suitable personal safety equipment is provided for use by flight crew;
  • Within area of responsibility, ensuring that all in-house and contracted below-wing operational activity is conducted efficiently and effectively, to the highest level of safety practicable;

This is to include:

  • Contract management
  • Aircraft and Flight Crew long term planning and scheduling to enable the successful delivery of ETPS ATO, QCFO and QinetiQ FTO requirements.
  • Establishment and Delivery of a Complex Ground Operations function.
  • Efficient and timely delivery of ALL Ground Operations
  • Underpinning support requirements.
