This global organisation in the engineering services sector are looking to hire a Head of Commercial to work within their Network & Equipment Services division, covering sectors such as Rail, Media, Telecoms, Energy and others.

You will report directly into the Commercial Director, and support senior management to achieve the commercial objectives of the business.

About your new role

Key duties will include:

  • Propose and develop commercial solutions for bids
  • Identify opportunities in existing contracts for margin improvement
  • Lead or support new and existing contract negotiations
  • Analyse and evaluate terms and conditions in bids and new contracts
  • Ensure that risk and reward in new bids are well understood throughout the governance process
  • Actively manage risk and implement commercial solutions
  • Support supply chain activities to flow down contractual risk to suppliers
  • Ensure bid submissions are compliant with customer requirements and meet expected quality standards
  • Manage the bids and contracts approval process in line with Group governance
  • Ensure compliance with Group contracting principles or obtain derogations
  • Manage commercial aspects of customer contracts including amendments and extensions
  • Manage and resolve legacy and emerging commercial issues
  • Undertake contractual dispute resolution where necessary including mediation, arbitration, adjudication and litigation
  • Support mergers, acquisitions and disposals activity
  • Draft and negotiate commercial agreements including contracts, subcontracts, teaming agreements, memorandum of understandings etc.

About you

  • Degree level education
  • Relevant further qualification in accounting/law/business management (desirable)
  • Relevant experience in a similar Commercial Management role is essential
  • Proven negotiation skills including resolution of disputes
  • Strong communication and influencing skills
  • Experience of complex bids and dispute resolution
  • Good understanding of contract law and the regulatory environment
  • Experience of mergers, acquisitions and/or disposals (desirable)
