Head of Business HR

Location - Remote work available - near Osterley, Livingston, Newcastle ideally.

Your key responsibilities:

Our Business HR team is responsible for connecting the HR function to the business and the business to the HR function. We're responsible for making sure the HR strategy and our people products and services are firmly in service of helping the business to deliver on its strategic ambitions. We're also responsible for making sure the work of the HR team lands brilliantly in the business.

As a Head of Business HR you will:

  • Hold the lead relationship with relevant Exec / Group Directors and their direct reports - developing deep knowledge of their business strategy and operations and you will bring that insight and understanding into the HR function.
  • Ensure business leaders' voices and needs are heard and clearly and understood within HR and that HR priorities support the business to deliver their strategy.
  • Work with your business leaders and wider HR team to develop, maintain and deliver a strategic people plan that enables the business unit to deliver on their strategy. Plans will be data driven and informed by Strategic Workforce Planning.
  • As the Head of HR, you will also be accountable for the successful delivery of the enterprise people plan into your business areas through effective partnership with your client areas and other HR functions
  • Be a key member of the HR function, taking on responsibility for enterprise wide people initiatives and projects as appropriate

Your skills and experience:

  • Demonstrable success in developing close, trusted partnerships with senior leaders and of having been able to use those relationships, alongside your extensive knowledge and experience of HR, to help those leaders develop and implement a range of people strategies that support their business agenda, using a variety of influencing styles.
  • The agility, experience, and an ongoing willingness, to work with across a range of different client areas, in support of your personal growth and / or business requirements.
  • A broad, generalist understanding of HR gained through 7 - 10 years of directly relevant experience with a good grasp of employment law
  • Data literate and will have demonstrable success in using data analytics to inform people strategies.
  • Customer-led & simplifying, capable of developing practical and workable solutions, keeping things as simple as possible. And you'll have great judgement, knowing how to balance pragmatism and best practice in ensuring your work is tuned to supporting the business achieve its aims.
  • Creative and action-oriented, bringing a positive, solutions-focussed approach to your work. And you'll be able to prioritise your efforts for maximum impact.
  • Collaborative and inclusive, able to work effectively with colleagues across the Business and in HR to enable collective success.
  • Previous experience in some of the relevant business areas is desirable
  • Previous experience working in organisations adopting a digital first or agile working practices would be beneficial
