Rotorcraft Hardware Engineer: Contract

Role Summary/Purpose

The successful candidate will report to the Engineering Group Manager within the Rotorcraft IVHM Team. In this role you will work independently on projects determined by the HW Technical Leader and contribute to the immediate team project goals and to other teams across the business, both internally and globally. You will also contribute to design discussions and decisions. You will work primarily in a waterfall type environment to meet scheduled customer and internal milestones

Essential Responsibilities:

You will:

  • Act as a member of the Hardware team updating test equipment capability to meet new aircraft platform and products verification requirements.
  • Develop requirements documentation and design for test equipment to meet specific aircraft platform testing needs, adhering to the engineering policies and procedures.
  • Design and produce technical drawings for electrical interface test equipment, mechanical enclosures and test cables
  • Configure test software to emulate aircraft data and busses for software and integration testing
  • Debugging issues with test equipment and software during test equipment development and project verification phases.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience with Test rig/equipment design and integration
  • Electrical Interface Experience
    • Aircraft instrumentation
    • Data buses
    • Vibration monitoring (accelerometers and tachometers)
    • Wiring installation and connections
  • Proficiency with IT systems for configuring/setting up PC based signal emulators
  • Experience with generating system level documentation, including requirements & implementation documents
  • Familiarity with writing and working to test specifications
  • Technical Drawings (Unigraphics / AutoCAD)
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently
  • Ability to identify, quantify, and resolve technical problems
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet project schedules

Desired Characteristics

  • Familiar with DO-178C level D requirements
  • Experience working within Aviation Environment
  • Experience with basic mechanical design would be beneficial
  • Good practical skills for assembly and testing of equipment and products
  • Good problem-solving skills for troubleshooting (e.g. signal issues, connections)
