My client, a well-known retailer based in West London, is currently seeking a Group Financial Reporting Manager to join their Group finance division in an interim 3-month contract. You should ideally be immediately available or on a maximum of 2 week's notice.

The Group Financial Reporting department is responsible for the delivery of timely, accurate and relevant financial information to the businesses audit committee, board and to external shareholders.
The team is responsible for the preparation of weekly and monthly Group management information and external financial information by way of the interim and annual financial statements, together with other related shareholder communication and the accounting for c.40 corporate subsidiaries. They also own the group consolidation process and provides ad-hoc technical accounting support for the rest of the business.

This role will provide key support to the Head of Group Reporting in ensuring financial information is reported timely and accurately across all channels and will be proactive in helping to drive change to existing processes and ways of working with a clear objective of optimising the use of systems. You will also deploy the day-to-day priorities and workload of the Group Reporting team.

The successful candidate will be an ACA qualified accountant from a Big 4 practice background with relevant retail experience in industry and a very strong background in technical financial accounting and its application in the commercial world. The candidate will have demonstrated the ability to lead and develop a team and have a proven track record of demonstrating collaborative working as well as having the confidence to make recommendations.

Required Skills

  • Big 4 qualified Accountant with 4-6 year's post-qual experience
  • Large 'plc' experience, either in a technical accounting role or as internal auditor
  • Good analytical skills and an ability to appropriately challenge
  • Previous retail experience (either in audit or commercial)
  • Prior experience of SAP
  • Prior experience of using consolidation systems (BPC preferable)
  • Advanced Excel skills
