Within the Secured Navigation Portfolio, this Programme Manager will help oversee and direct the development of a new GNSS ASIC receiver, lead key bidding and delivery activities. The individual would need to work closely with the GNSS ASIC Consultant. Initially supporting a Tiger Team to review the programme and then subsequently providing support to the IDTL on delivery.

This individual will bring a track record and experience in managing the ASIC development and fabrication projects. They will have an understanding of the ASIC lifecycle, fabrication processes and how to drive efficiencies into the development programme, working alongside the PMs and System Design Authority.

Ideally, the candidate will have worked in the GNSS industry or mass production ASICs (not MEMS).

Key Accountabilities


  • Functional reporting directly to the Integrated Delivery Team Lead
  • Complementing the existing team of Programme and Project Managers by providing consultancy and advice on managing such complex ASIC programmes.
  • The design, implementation and delivery of the next generation of ASIC within the Secured Navigation team
  • Cross dependency management between the contributing projects
  • Risk management including the ownership and management of risks at programme level and escalation to the IDTL as appropriate.
  • Ensuring delivery is in line with the Operating Framework(s) and any Secured Navigation/customer specific requirements


  • Developing and leading valued relationships with the customer community
  • Stakeholder management of both internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide thought leadership to the stakeholders to influence their procurement strategy, their commercial strategy and their relationship with the organisation and other organisations
  • Pro-active management of sub-contractors, maintaining tight delivery schedules and ensuring value for money


  • Providing leadership, knowledge and experience to the teams
  • Mentoring, coaching and developing the project management and project support community within the ASIC development programme

Successful outcomes of this role

  • Successful delivery of the ASIC development programme as a whole and winning new business to contribute towards this development.


  • Driving efficiencies into programme delivery both on the technical delivery and project management axis.
  • Maintaining momentum within the programme


  • Requires proven track record in delivering complex engineering projects, dealing with demanding timescales, uncertainty and risk.
  • Experience and track record in delivering ASIC development and manufacture programmes
