Lead Infrastructure Engineer (Platform Team Lead)

Swansea, Permanent

Salary range: £49,835 - £60,649 depending on skills and experience

This role may also attract a DigiTec allowance of up to £15k depending on skills and experience.

Join the DVLA as a Lead Infrastructure Engineer, and you’ll help build world class digital services that pave the way for future business transformation.

As a Lead Infrastructure Engineer, you’ll lead in the delivery of a technical infrastructure focused service to the DVLA.  You’ll contribute to the leadership of the group from a technology perspective, and support implementation of change and benefits by embedding revised and efficient technology, processes and ways of working that reflect the changing service landscape and support requirements.

With strong UNIX and Windows-based OSs and Server Virtualisation expertise, ideally you’ll have a solid understanding of the following:-

  • Deployment and management of Cloud platforms, e.g. AWS and Azure
  • Automation tooling (e.g. Puppet, Ansible, Jenkins or similar solutions)
  • Logical and Physical Enterprise Class Network configurations (Avaya, Nortel and CISCO)

You’ll also have experience of Enterprise Class Backup/Restore products (e.g. Tivoli TSM) and experience of dealing with stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes. You’ll be keen to share knowledge, help and advice with your team, but you’ll look for ways to stay up-to-date on new products, tools and techniques. You’ll work on your own initiative, and you’ll develop and maintain good relationships with key stakeholders.  It would be ideal if you had a strong ITIL framework background and previous experience of working within a Support or Operations role.

Besides the rewarding nature of playing a key role in a major transformation project, you’ll also receive an excellent benefits package. You’ll receive a generous annual leave entitlement; attractive pension options; flexible working and childcare arrangements to enable a good work/life balance; and ongoing training and development opportunities.
