Front End Developer (6 Months - Telford)

Location - Telford
Contract - 6 Months
Pay - £450 per day
Outside IR35

  • Build, deploy and operate outstanding digital services within an agile environment that meet well-defined user needs
  • Provide mentorship and/or line management for more junior Front-end developers where necessary.
  • Contribute to a culture of continual improvement in which key systems owned by your digital service team are regularly analysed, maintained and improved.
  • Contribute to a robust automated test suite to work in a continuous integration environment
  • Become involved in the wider web development community (outside of client and the government), building relationships with other front-end developers and identifying best practices we can adopt.
  • Sharing knowledge of tools and techniques with technical and non-technical team members in the wider digital team and across government.
  • Completion of work allocated within agreed time, cost and quality criteria and providing progress reports on assigned work as required.
  • Prompt escalation of problems, issues and risks as necessary.
  • Management and control of problems and change within their area of responsibility.

Technical Skills

Your primary responsibilities will to work on the frontend aspects of Digital Services your team will be building and supporting. This will involve creating accessible HTML markup supplemented with ARIA tags to ensure the service is useable by all user types regardless of disability.

This role will require a close working relationship with the design team and the backend developers to ensure the finished products satisfies both end users and can be easily maintained by the development team.

Working in cross team and communities is a requirement to ensure shared frontend libraries developed using technologies such as jQuery, SCSS, NodeJS, Karma, Jasmine and are maintained by all the frontend developers.

Writing quality solutions is a mandatory requirement, requiring code to be developed with a full suite of tests including unit, integration, acceptance and security tests using the appropriate tools.
Frontend work will involve generating code that browsers consume via server side templating frameworks.

Having worked with web frameworks such as Play Framework, ASP.NET MVC, Ruby on Rails, etc. will be a huge advantage, as this will allow you to collaborate with other developers on the team.
