FP&A Accountant

Permanent £41,000 - £44,000

We are looking to recruit an FP&A accountant for a new opening working for the UKS largest engineering supports business provider, based from Army HQ in Andover.

Babcock International manage a £900m 10 year contract to provide maintenance and equipment support to the British Army's fleet of land vehicles. Reporting to the FP&A Manager (Equipment Support)/Business Facing FD (Training) of the Business Unit, the FP&A Accountant will assist with managing all aspects of Business Unit financial planning and analysis.

This will include-

  • Assisting with requests from the Defence Reporting Team
  • Assist with the consolidation of Group reporting on behalf of the Business Unit including monthly accounts, budgets, forecasts and strategic plans
  • Deputising for the FP&A Manager/Business Facing FD when required
  • Supporting identified continuous improvement projects on behalf of the Finance function.
  • Ensuring the service is delivered to meet or exceed the key performance indicators as referred in the Service Level Agreements.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve the service.

Key Duties will include

  • Business Unit financial analysis as required by FD and Business Unit Board
  • Production of Business Unit financial analysis as required by FD and Business Unit Board
  • Support to business change activities across Business Unit
  • Business Unit Overheads and central adjustments for month-end accounts, budgets, forecasts, strategic plan
  • Business Units month-end, budgets, forecasts and strategic plan BPC template for submission for Defence Reporting team
  • Business Unit budget, forecast and strategic plan reports and presentations
  • Trading entity balance sheet models to support the above submissions
  • Business Unit quarterly contract review presentations
  • Complete central revenue journals in a timely and accurate fashion
  • Business Units overheads and central adjustments management accounts and commentary for overall Business Units performance for management accounts
  • Order book reports
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of the services provided ensuring
  • Materials in support of internal and external audit requirements.

Technical Experience and Qualifications

Essential

  • Newly qualified or CIMA/ACCA final year
  • Ability to understand and manipulate data to present clear and concise financial messages for review.
  • Ability to ensure deadlines and targets are achieved or surpassed.
  • Ability to maintain knowledge of industry and regulatory standards in respect to Financial Reporting.
  • Extensive experience in the use of Microsoft Office 2010 suite of applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio and Outlook.
  • Experience of Finance IT applications
  • Ability to engage effectively with all Business Unit stakeholders.
  • Self-starter able to define and satisfy the demands of stakeholders and customers of the process through consolidation of information, interpretation of the results and the presentation of the results in a manner that supports and challenges the business.
  • Adopts a customer-centric approach to delivery of service.
  • Ability to foster an organisational culture that is positive about change and committed to delivery of business objectives.
