We are looking to recruit a Forecasting, Planning & Inventory Manager for a new role within a FTSE100 engineering and support services business based in Telford.

The organisation is the UKs largest provider of engineering and support services to the UKs Armed forces. From the site in Telford the organisation maintain, repair, and store the Army's fleet of land vehicles.

The purpose of the Forecasting, Planning & Inventory Manager will be to Develop and run the forecasting and planning cycles for all business streams, and the manage and implement the overall inventory strategy. You will take responsibility for maintaining Strategic Forecasts and Requirement Plans, to drive material requirements for customer requirements and inventory, meeting contracted customer Key Performance measures and budget requirements. You will develop models and scenarios to model the impact of customer planning on forecast requirement responding to requirement changes, identifying and enabling risk aversion opportunities and work closely across all Inventory and Repair Management functions to ensure all variables are built into the planning scenarios.

This will be achieved by taking responsibility for the following key tasks

  • Lead and develop a newly formed forecasting, planning and inventory team of 8 members
  • Utilising forecasting methodology & toolsets
  • Analyse and question large sets of complex data up 250K part numbers
  • Understand the impact of changes to the data sets in real time
  • Manage and plan a forecasted spend £250M per annum
  • Produce business risk analysis impact based on various scenarios
  • Review inventory strategies for optimisation changes and availability risk
  • Monitor and assess patterns in demands

Technical Experience and Qualifications

  • A degree or relevant professional qualification (NVQ 4, HND, Graduate Diploma, BTEC, PG Dip, etc) and have recent, relevant experience in a senior capacity in a complex organisation
  • Strong understanding of inventory and repair loop management evidenced through extensive practical experience
  • Proven and Demonstrable experience in delivering forecasting and planning in an MRO environment
  • Excellent organisational skills and expertise in managing forecasts and plans and ensuring objectives are met within tight deadlines.
  • An ability to develop and sustain relationships with individuals at all levels in an organisation (both internal and external), including the ability to engage with and influence stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills, including experience of developing outputs, reports, and presentations.
  • Strong leadership and collaborative working skills, and facilitation and mentoring skills.
  • Full, clean driving licence
  • Proven experience of operational delivery in a complex, time critical environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • An understanding of the challenges of MoD customer, commercial and cultural working methods.
  • Ability to relate to both client and customer needs at all levels with respect to operational
