FLIGHT PHYSICS SENIOR ENGINEER

Location: Salisbury

Duration: 6 months

Rate: £400.00 per day

Hours: 37 per week

As a Flight Physics Engineer, you will primarily focus on assessment of aircraft performance and flying qualities, aircraft handling, Flight Control Systems and Air Data Systems.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A degree in aerospace or an equivalent blend of qualification and/or experience

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Full membership of a relevant professional body
  • MoD Customer interface experience in an aerospace organisation
  • Knowledge of Flight Physics modelling and simulation
  • Experience of working in or with MoD and the Services

Knowledge, skills and personal qualities required:

  • In-depth understanding of Flight Physics principles and concepts and a basic knowledge of other disciplines and how Flight Physics integrates with those disciplines.
  • Ability to make judgements based on the analysis of Flight Physics information.
  • Ability to apply Flight Physics principles and concepts to a range of work.
  • 6-8 years post-graduation Flight Physics experience, preferably in test and/or evaluation.
  • Knowledge of airworthiness and safety assessment.
  • Knowledge of technical governance.
  • Technical understanding of the air vehicle life cycle.

Challenges:

  • Working within a specialist technical team with new ways of working.
  • Supporting the close working between specialist disciplines during the assessment of complex integrated aerospace systems.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Delivering Flight Physics specialist technical advice in line with the customer requirement.
  • Completing specific specialist technical activities.
  • Appropriately utilising technical processes, methods and tools within the specialist area to deliver tasks.
  • Supporting the engineering and technical interface with customers and suppliers when required for the specialist area.
