Fleet Programmes Project Engineer (Business Improvement / Material Demand Planner) - HMNB Clyde, Faslane

A brand new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Fleet Programmes Project Engineer (Business Improvement / Material Demand Planner) to join a FTSE 100 Organisation based at HMNB Clyde, Faslane.

The anticipated salary for this role will be £33,505.

Main Tasks

The main purpose of this role will identify, facilitate and deliver Project Demand & Supply Improvement initiatives within the Fleet Programme department in accordance with best practices to undertake the Submarine Programme support periods undertaken at HM Naval Base Clyde.

Specific areas of responsibility will include the identification and recommendation of improvement projects within the Project Demand & Supply function of Fleet Programmes, facilitating their progress through cascading appropriate improvement techniques and methodologies. Furthermore the role will be responsible for coordinating material risk reviews and identifying necessary mitigation actions and also collating required management information for learning-from-experience analysis and Project / Exec board reporting.


We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate previous experience of working on maintenance projects within multi-disciplinary engineering environments which were supported by subcontracted resources. Knowledge of marine or nuclear engineering activities, ship systems, weapons systems, warship construction, test forms and technical procedures would all be advantageous. Key areas of competency we require will include HND level qualification (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline.

  • Knowledge and experience of process improvement techniques and methodologies.
  • Knowledge and experience of planning and project management principles and practices.
  • Highly developed team working and interpersonal skills.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt qualification would be desirable
  • Competent user of business applications
