Financial Controller

£80,000 - £85,000 + Car + Benefits


We are looking to recruit a Financial Controller to join a dynamic team working for the UKs leading engineering support services provider based in Andover.

Babcock International manage a 10 year contract to store, maintain, repair and overhaul military vehicles and equipment from the Ministry of Defence and the British Army. Reporting to the Finance Director, the Financial Controller will be responsible for the integrity of the organisations financial accounting, reporting, policies and procedures.

This role will lead the Head Office Finance Team which includes Financial Accounting, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable (c.20 heads). In addition, the role will manage the Financial Planning and Analysis for the Business Unit.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Provision of analytical review and management information to the Executive Leadership Team which is dynamic to adapt to changing requirements.
  • Provide the business with a robust Business Planning and Forecasting framework.
  • Produce entity annual statutory accounts.
  • Ensure the accounting policies for the BU are consistent with the Group Policy, UKGAAP and IFRS as appropriate and that financial controls are in place and reviewed to meet the demands of Board.
  • Ensure integrity of accounting data via robust and timely transactional processing and regular review processes for management information in an ERP business environment
  • Manage financial accounting teams and activities to include financial accounting, treasury, payroll, general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, travel claims, credit cards and fixed assets areas
  • Management of working capital processes in the business unit
  • Production of regular commentary and analysis of both debtors and creditors to support accurate forecasting
  • Responsibility for all Group reporting including monthly reporting, budgets and forecasts
  • Responsibility for developing financial systems to support the business as it changes
  • Responsibility for balance sheet controls and control procedures to ensure all balance sheet accounts are managed appropriately
  • Responsibility for internal audit compliance
  • Responsibility for tax and treasury compliance within the entity
  • Maintenance of the financial delegation of authorities

Technical Experience and Qualifications

  • Experience of ERP systems and financial reporting tools
  • 5 year+ PQE CIMA/ACCA or equivalent
  • Strong experience of Financial reporting standards
  • Extensive experience in the use of Microsoft Office 2010 suite of applications (including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio and Outlook) and financial modelling.#
