Financial Analyst

Central London - Canary Wharf

We are looking to recruit a Financial Analyst to work on a permanent basis for a market leading global business based in Central London - EC2

The organisation is a global business information services, and media organisation who work within the financial and risk, legal, tax and accounting, intellectual property and science and media markets. The Financial Analyst is responsible for the delivery of high quality management reporting and controllership to the Risk and Supply Chain Management Business Unit.

The role requires strong relationship building with Business Finance, Corporate Functions, Internal and External audit, external customers and within the Accounting Operations community and is critical in ensuring that all costs, commitments and liabilities are accurately recorded on a timely basis. This role will provide support and control of the business unit's Balance Sheets and ensure that the financial statements reflect international standards.

Major Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the global management, control and reporting of the general ledger for the Risk and Supply Chain Management Business Unit
  • Monthly close activities for Risk and Supply Chain Management including the close liaison with global service centres for the posting of journals, identification of accruals and prepayments and cost assurance activities to ensure that results are complete and accurate.
  • Regular meetings with Business Finance to discuss sub-segment results and expectations.
  • Analysis, review and commentary for material P&L variances based on month actuals vs. runrate/plan/forecast presented to Central Finance.
  • Controllership of balance sheet accounts providing full commentary on movements and breakdown of balances for area supported. This is presented to the Business on a quarterly basis.
  • Working capital , free cash flow analysis, people cost, T&E and vendor reporting as well as other ad hoc support to Business finance.

Technical Skills and qualifications required

  • Qualified Accountant e.g ACA,ACCA or CIMA equivalent, it is desirable to be qualified in practice
  • Able to display experience in a commercial environment
  • A self-starter able to work with changing priorities and time pressures
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; proven ability to relate to all levels of management and both finance and non-finance staff
  • Detail oriented with excellent analytical, quantitative and investigative skills; ability to present complex data in a simplified and meaningful way
  • Ability to apply knowledge and creativity to resolve standard and complex issues
  • Highly proficient with Excel at an Intermediate level.
