We are looking to recruit a Finance Manager for a new opening within the UKs largest engineering and support services organisation based in Bristol.

The role is working in a business unit within the Marine Sector of the organisation. Working on a range of exciting design, manufacture and support projects, the BU works with a number of key clients domestically and internationally. Based at a number of sites in the UK and overseas, the business continues to win new work and grow at a significant pace, as a result we are recruiting for talented, enthusiastic and driven people.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Project Accounting, the Finance Manager role will be responsible for the delivery of exceptional financial support to the business unit, and wider group.

This role requires the management of two finance teams to enable the delivery of quality and accurate financial reporting; Providing thorough analysis of results and regular reviews of key variances to budgets/forecasts, along with providing ad-hoc reports, analysis & recommendations to cost centre managers, the Head of Finance and Director level stakeholders.

  • Responsible for quality management of direct reports, ensuring exceptional delivery of financial support whilst maintaining high levels of motivation and a strong team ethic.
  • Financial management of all Business activities (projects, overheads, CAPEX, cash-flow, rates etc.)
  • Production of management accounts.
  • Management of the production of resource/overhead/BO budgets, forecasts and strategic plans
  • Delivery of weekly; cash management reporting, including appropriate detail, narrative and context is provided for the relevant time period.
  • Financial Management of all overseas activities within the Business Units
  • Lead on the preparation of budgets, management accounts and financial reports
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations within teams
  • Management of the financial reporting and cost controls for the ongoing business unit restructure, integration and rationalisation; working closely with the management team in delivering challenging efficiencies across the Business.
  • Provide all necessary inputs and commentary to the preparation of monthly and quarterly reviews.
  • Support and lead on internal and external audits, ensuring compliance is maintained at all times.
  • Proactive and resourceful attitude towards achieving goals and management of team, with supportive of successful working relationships across the wider business.

Required Skills and Experience / Qualifications

The successful candidate will ideally:

  • Be a qualified Accountant, preferably ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
  • Have experience in a similar role, ideally within an international manufacturing environment, although other industries are acceptable.
  • Be proficient with Microsoft Office - in particular, Excellent Excel skills (use of lookups and pivot tables). Macros preferable.
  • Have an organised approach to work with experience of working to tight deadlines.
  • Be a confident and self-motivated team player.
  • Have excellent communication skills.
