Finance Manager
Permanent Role - up to £55,000 per annum + benefits

We are looking to recruit a Finance Manager for a permanent role based in Exeter.

The organisation are a FTSE150 support services business and their Education division works with early years' settings, schools, academies, multi-academy trusts, teaching school alliances, UTCs, local authorities and government departments. They have been awarded a seven-year contract to deliver education and inclusion support and improvement services to Devon schools.

The of the Finance Manager is to lead all aspects of the contract finances, as well as providing operational and executive support to the finance leadership team.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To act as the finance business partner for the business unit and across division where required.
  • To ensure the provision of monthly and annual accounts, budgets, rolling forecasts and strategic plans
  • Liaise with and support of Operational Management teams to provide a high level of financial expertise
  • Manage the work of the Assistant Management Accountant and develop that individual
  • Manage cash-flows and provide regularly weekly and monthly forecasts.
  • Provide support in bidding activity, including co-ordinating and presenting bid financial information to the Education and BU Management team
  • Support and manage internal and external audit requirements, including ensuring timely resolution of audit findings and comments
  • To work with other members of the Education finance team to drive forward continuous improvement
  • Responsible for tight balance sheet management and control (with regular balance sheet and contract reviews)
  • Provide variance analysis and commentary for P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash-flow.
  • Assist Head of Finance with Education consolidation activity for all reporting.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Qualified ACCA/CIMA/ACA with at least 2 years PQE or qualified by experience
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience of Navision and/or SAP BPC would be an advantage
  • Willing to travel to other UK sites as required
  • Strong financial reporting and costs analysis
  • Commercially astute
  • People management experience
  • Able to prepare and present difficult and complex financial/operational information in a simple and meaningful way
