My client is seeking a Finance Manager with strong business facing and ERP experience, reporting into the Head of Finance, You will provide line management support to the team and be responsible for ensuring key objective set out in the overall finance strategy are met. The ideal candidate will have experience in Long term accounting, open book accounting and Public Sector accounting.

Key Accountabilities & Deliverables

  • Finance lead for Business Unit projects as directed by the Head of Finance, supporting contract extensions, customer driven proposals, business cases and completion estimates of completion of major contracts.
  • To support the Head of Finance establishing and delivering the strategy for the business unit.
  • To produce timely and accurate financial information for the contracts, including contract management accounts, Annual Budget, Quarterly Forecasts and Contract Review Financial data for Sea Training business unit.
  • To ensure the production, integrity , control and review of the financial modelling and the underlying assumptions
  • Ensure the technical accounting / finance application and other specialist accounting and funding arrangements are incorporated into all tenders including primary point of contract for liaison with Group treasury and Group Tax
  • To be part of the contracts management & leadership team, liaising with customers at all levels as required and working with the commercial and supply chain teams as required.
  • Responsibility and management of all financial reporting and analysis requirements.
  • Direct management of a team of Project Accountants supporting the business facing management accountant production and responsibility for their financial inputs / outputs
  • Responsibility for the ongoing analysis and recruitment of the required finance model to deliver and sustain both the growth requirements and business facing finance commitments.
  • Provide direction and assistance with implementing processes and procedural changes
  • Establish, embed and exploit the integration of SAP across the business unit including standard costing labour rates

Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience

  • Recognised professional qualification ACA/CIMA/ACCA or equivalent
  • Experience of bid/tender production and processes
  • Experience Contract compliance and governance
  • Ability to ensure deadlines and target are achieved or surpassed
  • Proven experience of analysing and interpreting financial information
  • SAP or equivalent ERP Project Management / accounting / implementation experience
  • Track record of the ability to manage contract performance to budget and forecast, and using excellent written & oral skills, providing sound variance analysis
  • Significant experience of commercial issues and corporate awareness in relation to costs, risk, margins and business opportunities.
  • Up-to-date working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards.
  • Has appropriate financial and management accounting experience within public or private commercial organisations, with demonstrable experience of team management.
  • Excellent time management skills, particularly evident in the ability to cope with simultaneous contract accounting and bid requirements.
  • Ability to assess business risks, issues and mitigating actions, with experience of implementing such actions.
  • Use of business warehouse or equivalent reporting tool
  • Experience of Long Term accounting and establishing the correct revenue recognition across existing and new business
