Role: Finance Manager

Duration: 6 months (temp to perm)

Location: Coventry

Pay: Up to £240/day PAYE (circa £62k salary)

Purpose: Finance Shared Service function operate from 2 locations, Coventry in the West Midlands and Akron, Ohio in the United States. The team support 17 businesses across North America and Europe.

As a key member of the Finance Shared Service team, the General Ledger Manager will lead a team of 8 across the two sites. They will manage the quality, service, workload and controllership of the General Ledger function and be passionate about their role adding value through the development and continuous improvement of controls, process, systems and teams.


  • Manage the periodic processing and key controls for multiple company ledgers including but not limited to
    • Month end close
    • Fixed assets
    • VAT returns and Intrastat submissions
    • Intercompany
    • Balance Sheet Reconciliations
    • Journals
  • Ensure all queries and disputes are resolved to maintain ledger accuracy
  • Manage all relevant SLA's and production of KPI's
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement through control, process and system improvement projects
  • Managing a team of 8-10 including objective setting, performance reviews and development planning
  • Ad hoc duties as requested by the UK Regional Head of Operations

Key skills and experience required:

  • Qualified Accountant with a minimum of 5 years PQE - ACA, ACCA, CIMA
  • Management experience within of a large PLC or limited company
  • Experience of managing and/or working in a shared service environment
  • Excellent working knowledge of Excel
  • Excellent working knowledge of SAP
  • experience in Remote Management of overseas/international teams
  • Shared Financial Services

Desirable Skill

  • Experience managing teams remotely (captive or outsourced)
  • Embedding best practice control environments
  • Working in a continuous improvement mind set
  • Willing to travel internationally on an as required basis (when allowed)
