About the role

Here at Babcock International we're looking to recruit a Financial Manager.

The purpose of your role will be to analyse, challenge and demonstrate the impact of solutions as they develop. You will have accountability for ensuring that proposals are financially robust, deliverable and meet the internal governance requirements set out at Group and Sector level. You'll also be responsible for maximising the win probability, through the creation and demonstration of value, and compliance against customer requirements.

  • Be a member of the senior leadership team on bids
  • Work as part of multi-disciplined teams, to challenge and support all members of the bid team in the development of financially robust, and commercially strong, solutions.
  • Own and review the financial solution and all financial models, analysis and presentations.
  • Provide financial advice and education to the bid team and all stakeholders
  • Demonstrate the financial impact of the solution to Babcock, including revenue, profit, cash, capital expenditure and investment ratios
  • Support the production of risk and opportunity registers
  • Consider key performance measures and bid evaluation criteria
  • Customer, supplier and partner negotiations
  • Work with operational teams to ensure an effective transition of tenders into operational contracts.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to senior management (including board level) and gain the relevant approvals to submit tenders, against the governance requirements
  • Support of wider projects & bids
  • Prepare and manage bid budgets and forecasts; and assume cost centre ownership


What do I need to do the role?

You'll need to be educated to degree level of education, CIMA / ACCA / ACA - minimum 5 years PQQ (or equivalent), evidence of CPD & technically strong, experience at a level of Financial Controller (or equivalent). Senior commercial finance experience, experience of working on large government procurement tenders would be advantageous, evidenced experience of dealing with a broad range of senior stakeholders (e.g. Customers, Suppliers, Partners, and Audit firms) and project management experience.

  • The successful candidate must be able to achieve the appropriate security clearance level for this role.
