Role Summary/Purpose

As a Finance Controller, you will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate reporting, in line with US GAAP and local statutory requirements, for a portfolio of complex legal entities within the UK and Ireland. This role drives balance sheet rigor, partners with the business in making the right decisions from a compliance and financial perspective and minimizes risk.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and review the financial ledgers of each legal entity to ensure they are maintained in compliance with US GAAP/local laws/ government regulations and filing requirements
  • Review high risk and material journals and payment to ensure financial activities are compliant and accurately reflected
  • Drive consistent and effective policies and procedures during monthly/quarterly close process including representation letters & adjusting entries
  • Audit/review high risk/material account reconciliations
  • Deep dive balance sheet accounts to ensure compliance, integrity of account balances/financial reporting and effectiveness of business processes
  • Research and advise on complex technical accounting issues and work closely with financial and operational leadership to pro-actively assess and manage financial risk
  • Represent finance in simplification initiatives across client entities to reduce complexity and enable local teams to focus on value added analytical/strategic tasks (including IT finance projects/support)
  • Own the UKI restructuring process, ensuring accurate and timely postings and submissions
  • Support acquisitions within the region, ensuring they report in line with requirements/policies and are onboarded to client systems/controls as soon as possible to mitigate risk


  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with controllership experience
  • Excellent accounting knowledge and ability to apply in a practical and pragmatic way
  • Strong communication skills - both verbal and written; able to communicate complex business issues in a clear/concise manner to staff of all levels and backgrounds
  • Strong controllership analytical skills - able to link financial results to operational performance
  • Clear thinker/problem solver, able to quickly grasp new ideas and identify solutions
  • Adaptable/Flexible: being open to change in response to new information, different or unexpected circumstances, and/or to work in ambiguous situations
