Finance Business Partner

Fareham - up to £50,000

This UK based Multinational engineering services organisation are looking to hire a Finance Business Partner to work within the maritime defence sector of their business, based in Fareham nr. Portsmouth.

A qualified accountant, you will be comfortable in managing the financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting and performance analysis for long-term projects or contracts.

About your new role

Finance Business Partner to ensure the timely and accurate financial reporting for specific contracts and projects within Marine Training with the primary role of maximising, profitability, efficiency and cash. Working for the Finance Manager liaising with the Senior Management Team and Contract Managers across the Business Unit and to provide line management support for one direct report

Key duties will include:

  • Finance lead for a Contract within the Business Unit consisting of multiple projects and legal entities
  • Finance subject matter expert and lead supporting contract extensions, customer driven proposals, business cases and completion estimates.
  • Preparation and collation of financial information for Monthly and Quarterly Contract Review documents, and presentation of information at these monthly reviews as required, addressing outputs (e.g. Revenue Profit, Cash and Risk) as part of contract financial models
  • To produce timely and accurate financial information for the contracts, including contract management accounts, Annual Budget, Quarterly Forecasts and Contract Review Financial with full ownership and accountability.
  • Completion of Balance Sheet reconciliations for all relevant contracts
  • To ensure management and delivery of all contractual financial reporting
  • Support Financial responsibility for the production of the 5 year strategic plan

About you

  • Recognised professional qualification - with a minimum of 3 years post qualified experience in ACA/CIMA/ACCA or equivalent
  • Contract Accounting experience
  • Ability to ensure deadlines and target are achieved or surpassed
  • Proven experience of analysing and interpreting financial information
  • SAP or equivalent ERP Project Management / accounting / implementation experience
  • Track record of the ability to manage contract performance to budget and forecast, and using excellent written & oral skills, providing sound variance analysis
  • Up-to-date working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards.
  • Excellent time management skills, particularly evident in the ability to cope with simultaneous contract accounting and bid requirements.
  • Ability to assess business risks, issues and mitigating actions, with experience of implementing such actions.
  • Extensive experience in the use of Microsoft Office 2010 suite of applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook.
  • Experience of IT applications (SAP) - desirable
  • Full Driving License
