An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Finance Business Partner to provide Finance management for Business Development team.

The organisation is at FTSE100 business; the UK's leading provider of engineering support to the Royal Navy. You'll be working as part of the organisation's Finance Team supporting Royal Navy's largest training establishment

Role Summary

The Finance Business Partner will be a pivot lead for our clients Business Development department to ensure the timely and accurate financial reporting to drive growth and secure new opportunities for our client. As Finance Business Partner you will report directly to the Head of Finance and closing liaising with the Director of Future Business, Head of Programmes & Projects, Contract Managers and the Business Development team.

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Finance lead for individual bid pricing teams with active involvement in financial modelling construction, overview and financial governance, challenging and shaping of the solution and ensuring competitive and sustainable delivery
  • To support the Head of Finance and Director of Future Business in both establishing and delivering the strategy for the business unit.
  • Create and maintain individual bid cost budgets, periodic forecast and supporting monthly, quarterly and annual reporting requirements.
  • To establish and continually improve a formal structure and approach to finance integrating to the tender activity
  • To liaise with operational management and provide accounting support, cost control, systems development and procedural control as required.
  • Responsibility and accountability for the production of timely and accurate financial information for the contract, including contract management accounts, forecast information, annual financial budgets/assumptions and strategic plans.
  • Responsibility for the production of annual financial budgets and quarterly forecasts across both new business and operational contracts, documenting all the key assumptions including opportunities or risks

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Recognised professional qualification ACA/CIMA/ACCA or equivalent
  • Experience of bid/tender production and processes
  • Experience Contract compliance and governance
  • Ability to ensure deadlines and target are achieved or surpassed
  • Proven experience of analysing and interpreting financial information
  • SAP or equivalent ERP Project Management / accounting / implementation experience
  • Track record of the ability to manage contract performance to budget and forecast, and using excellent written & oral skills, providing sound variance analysis
  • Significant experience of commercial issues and corporate awareness in relation to costs, risk, margins and business opportunities
  • Up-to-date working knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards
  • Has appropriate financial and management accounting experience within public or private commercial organisations, with demonstrable experience of team management
  • Excellent time management skills, particularly evident in the ability to cope with simultaneous contract accounting and bid requirements
  • Ability to assess business risks, issues and mitigating actions, with experience of implementing such actions
  • Experience of Long Term accounting and establishing the correct revenue recognition across existing and new business
