Group Reporting Accountant / Finance Analyst

£50,000 - £53,000 + Bonus + Benefits


We are looking to recruit a Group Reporting Accountant / Finance Analyst for a new opening within the UKs largest engineering and support services organsiation based from their UK head office in Central London.

The organisation deliver complex through-life engineering services, technology, equipment, consultancy and training through unique owned and managed infrastructure to global defence and civil customers.

The Group Reporting Accountant / Finance Analyst Group Finance works as part of a small team responsible for the consolidation and preparation of Group monthly management accounts, annual and half yearly financial statements, budgets and forecasts. They also assist the treasury function for the Group. Numerous projects are also undertaken, mainly relating to acquisitions and disposals of subsidiaries.

Duties & Responsibilities


Numerous one off projects are handled by the team mainly relating to acquisitions and disposals. Tasks include producing forecast financial statements and cash flows to installing SAP in new businesses and training staff in its use. Information packs are also prepared for the LSE and other advisors.

Monthly Group Management Accounts

Consolidate the information received from national business units, checking accuracy and reasonableness. Update consolidation adjustment journals. Reconcile inter company eliminations. Produce reports and seek explanations for variances and assess reasonableness.

Annual and half year Group Consolidated Financial Statements

Assist with the drafting and preparation of the financial statements by preparing various schedules and working papers. Assist auditors in their audit.

Budget and forecasts (3 per year)

Produce and issue to divisions the appropriate instructions and timetables. Consolidate unit returns in SAP and prepare and process consolidation adjustment journals. Produce Group reports assessing reasonableness and seeking explanations for variances.

Project and financial controls review

Visit divisional offices worldwide to review the project review procedures and to carry out reviews of the financial controls in place. There could also be a requirement to carry out certain audit verification of assets and liabilities.

SAP Administration

Provide "helpdesk" technical support to SAP users in the divisions. Update the system for new units or changes in existing information requirements. Prepare appropriate workbooks for collecting of budget and forecast results as well as for any additional information required at year end.

Subsidiary statutory accounts

Statutory accounts are produced for a number of trading subsidiaries. Draft the accounts from SAP and other information and liaise with auditors in regards the audit of the trading companies.

Accounting standards

Monitor new accounting standards and assess their impact on the Group. Prepare reports on their implications and assist in their implementation across the Group
