Finance Analyst - Consolidation

My client, a well-known media company based in West London, is currently seeking a Finance Analyst to join their Group Accounting & Reporting department on a 4-month contract. You should be immediately available or on a maximum of 2 week's notice.

Job purpose/key responsibilities

You will be a member of the team responsible for producing the consolidated financial results of the group for internal and external audiences, and for producing the group's financial statements and reporting. You will also deal with the group's internal and external auditors. Your role will include exposure to finance colleagues across all the group's territories on a regular basis. Key responsibilities will include the following:
Producing the group's consolidated financial result

  • Assisting with the production of the group monthly consolidated result
  • Maintaining the integrity of the group consolidation process through close liaison with teams across Tax, Treasury and Corporate Finance to adapt to and integrate changes to the group structure
  • Working with finance teams to integration new business areas into our standard reporting and accounting processes
  • Compliance with internal governance and controls, ensuring key controls are operating effectively

Production of external financial statements and reports

  • Assistance with the preparation of the Group's annual and interim reports and quarterly releases, primarily focusing on completion of the consolidated financial statements
  • Working closely with the group's auditors to ensure a smooth audit process
  • Participation in team-wide preparation of UK statutory accounts, inclusive of liaison with commercial finance contracts and auditors

Technical Accounting

  • Providing accounting advice to local finance teams on a wide variety of ad-hoc queries, including complex and critical areas of accounting such as lease accounting, impairment testing and revenue recognition
  • Accounting advice and due diligence on corporate transactions and commercial deals, including acquisitions/disposals/investments, new products and services etc
  • Review of new accounting standards and rules issues by regulatory bodies, preparing updates for senior management and implementing new accounting policy and disclosure requirements

Candidate specification

  • Fully qualified ACA from a Big4 practice background
  • 2-4 year's post-qualification experience in a similar role
  • Experience within a large UK based company, preferably FTSE100
  • Strong experience of Group financial reporting, consolidations, preparation of financial statements, year-end and audit.
  • Strong SAP and Excel skills
  • IFRS financial accounting knowledge
