About the Role
We're looking for an Equipment Business Support Manager to join us at HMNB Devonport, one of the largest naval bases in Western Europe. We're a key strategic partner to our customers; the MOD and the Royal Navy. We ensure that the UK Royal Navy goes to sea safely by supporting them in Devonport and around the world, delivering complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes and applying our core strengths of technology and expertise to sustain critical and complex assets to help maintain national security.


The Submarine Supply Chain Team forms part of the Procurement and Supply Chain function in Naval Nuclear managing requirements including material procurement, equipment overhaul and repair, to ensure availability to support the various Submarine programmes. As Equipment Business Support Manager you'll provide Technical and Project Engineering support functions to the Supply Chain to enable the planning and delivery of Programme outputs.


Using your significant Supply Chain management experience, including demand management, procurement and logistics, you'll support the Vanguard Class Deep Maintenance Period (DMP) Project Material Planning, of Upkeep by Exchange (UxE) and Advance Manufacture items (AMI). You'll lead and manage the Equipment Support team upholding the governance of all Project Management principles in the delivery of the Project and Programme outputs.


What do I need to be able to do the role?
You'll be educated to minimum HNC or equivalent in an engineering/technical discipline. A CIPS qualification or other relevant Supply Chain qualification would be highly advantageous.


We would also like you to have some or all of the following:

  • Detailed knowledge of Submarine Mechanical and/or Electrical specialisations
  • Analytical mind-set with good problem solving abilities
  • Good understanding of the various business areas and operations

Lastly, good interpersonal and effective communication skills (both verbal and written) are essential attributes for this post, as is the ability to interface and build strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and the customer.

What else do I need to know?

  • The successful candidate will need to satisfy Ministry of Defence security requirements. This may require you to hold or be eligible/capable of achieving 'Security Check' (SC) clearance.
