We are looking for an Epidemiologist to support epidemiologic projects and processes, under the supervision of permanent Manager- or Director-level epidemiologist, in alignment with clients Research and Development strategy for respiratory diseases worldwide.

You will be required to:

* Execute and/or manage discrete projects related to disease understanding relevant to drug development and clinical trials: e.g. incidence, prevalence, risk factors, natural history course, geographic variation, co-morbidities, co-medications, outcome measures, phenotypes, biomarkers. Conduct Literature reviews.

* Draft sections of Epi Packages or other similar descriptive epidemiology documents for internal or external audiences. Manage studies using databases available within the Epi Dept.

* Summarize information from completed studies for inclusion in regulatory documents, internal study reports, or Powerpoint slides for presentations.

* Provide project management and communication support for large, complex epidemiology collaborative studies.

* Schedule meetings, track timelines, monitor budgets, draft meeting minutes / decision logs. Post and maintain repository of relevant references for team.

* Maintain research agreements with External Experts for SHARP.

* Perform research management activities in accordance with client record and retention or data disclosure policies.

* Create entries and manage updated project information in IRMS. Develop CSR summaries from completed study reports. Archive final epidemiology project documents into PIER E.g. clear backlog of filing final study documents related to marketed respiratory studies from SERETIDE/ADVAIR, SEREVENT, FLOVENT or burden of disease studies.

* Convert study reports into draft manuscript sections for peer-review publications. Requirements: MPH or MSPH in Epidemiology required; PhD/Doctorate or MD with MPH in epidemiology preferred.

Responsibilities/Day to Day Tasks:

* Works on the development of new products, following requirements outlined in business strategies, taking into account scientific and timing objectives.Applies leading-edge science to develop, validate and support in vitro and/or analytical methods to support formulation development and provide support for product claims. This may include pioneering new technology routes against agreed project deliverables and timings.

* Identifies potential opportunities for commercial exploitation. Leads one or more projects and teams in support of departmental plans. Represents NPD and presents project results at NPD project reviews and in other internal forums.

* Exercises a wide degree of independent technical sophistication in accomplishing assigned tasks. Independently designs experiments and carries out scientific work with an awareness of state-of-the-art technology. Keeps abreast of, explores and develops new technologies and shares information with his team and Manager.

* Develops strong, collaborative relationships with other departments/groups and fosters an environment of knowledge sharing.

* Assists Development Scientists in defining and implementing innovative solutions for assigned activities, balancing achievement of milestones with high quality standards. Sets and refines personal priorities as necessary to remain focused on objectives and project milestones under rapidly changing circumstances.

* Actively participates in project team meetings as required and ensure delivery of commitments and project milestones. Creates research plans to fit overall project objectives.

* Performs comprehensive, sophisticated and critical evaluation of own data and data from other scientists.

* Seeks advice from colleagues and Management when unexpected results occur or when major changes to project plans are considered. Maintains awareness of scientific literature to assist work progression and understanding.

* Writes technical papers/presentations to enhance personal, departmental and corporate reputation.

* Develops strong external contacts to maintain awareness of developments outside of client through trade associations, academia and other professional bodies; strengthen and establish networks of external collaborators within academia, suppliers, etc.


* BS, Masters or PhD in Chemical, Pharmaceutical or related science. 10 years (BS); 5 years (MS); 2 years (Ph.D.).

* A history of demonstrated expertise in the formulation and characterization of both conventional and novel solid, semi-solid and/or other dosage forms, including pre-formulation and/or modern analytical theory with hands-on troubleshooting and method development experience.

* Proven scientific leadership skills and a practical approach with significant experience of using experimental design, measurement and interpretation in the development of new products and/or the invention of new systems.

* Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to work well with others, and ability to plan and execute work independently with minimal supervision; communication capability should extend to all organizational levels.

* Demonstrated problem-solving ability using innovative thought and good scientific judgment. Demonstrated ability to apply scientific principles and techniques to assigned projects.

* Preferably have working and/or hands-on knowledge and experience in some or all of the following techniques: HPLC, MS, GC, IC, KF, TLC, CE. Proficient using Microsoft PowerPoint, Project, Word and Lotus Notes.
