Engineering/Trials Technician (Test & Evaluation - Submarines & Warships)

PERMANENT, FULL-TIME, SALARY DEPENDANT ON EXPERIENCE, WEYMOUTH

The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for someone with a sound engineering background to join a global Defence, Technology & Security organisation, within their Engineering & Operations division.

We are looking for an Engineering / Trials Technician to join an established team based near Weymouth. You will be working within a unique and world leading facility supporting the maintenance and operation of complex systems and equipment. We provide a vital test and evaluation service giving warships and submarines an operational advantage in today's multi-threat environment. There are also regular opportunities to participate in field work away from your home site, both in the UK and abroad.

Requirements

  • Demonstrate a strong technical skill base, with an aptitude to learn to perform a wide range of complex engineering and technical tasks
  • Work well as a team member and be familiar with health and safety requirements
  • Committed to achieve, pro-active and self-motivated
  • Physically able to undertake manual handling activities
  • Ability to read, understand and follow Work Instructions
  • Basic IT skills
  • Full, clean UK driving licence

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • NVQ level 2 in an Engineering, Technical or Testing and measurement discipline or an equivalent qualification
  • Successful completion of secondary education with a minimum of 3 GCSEs grades A* to C, including English, Mathematics and a relevant Science subject (Physics)

Desirable

  • Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship
  • Experience of working within a testing and measurement environment
  • Member of a recognised professional body

Security

This role operates within a secure defence environment and as a result requires the successful applicant to hold a British Passport and UK residency for the last 5 years.
